Who is George B. Schwartzman and why did he do so well in the California recall election?
This recall had 135 or so candidates. Vote totals for candidates ran the gamut from the low hundreds to over three and a half million.
About 97% of the votes went to the top four candidates. Rounding out the top ten were the famous candidates, Arianna Huffington, Peter Ueberroth , Gary Coleman and others with name recognition.
Except for one: George B. Schwartzman, ninth place in the race with 0.2% of the vote -- more than 10,000 votes.
He got more votes than Bill Simon or the comedian Gallagher.
Who is he? He's 57 years old, from San Diego and running as an independent. His campaign platform was to ban cookies and soda pop from vending machines at schools to fight obesity.
What possibly brought him the top of the also running pack?
The name. Schwartzman. Kind of like Schwarzenegger. Right next to Schwarzenegger.
It would seem ten thousand or so Schwarzenegger supporters weren't able to vote properly.
Perhaps Schwarzenegger will sue for an extra 0.2% to be added to his total.
I'd say George B. Schwartzman has a bright political career ahead of him.

His Schwartz wasn't as big as Arnold's. I am going to call every monitor manufacturer I can and DEMAND they produce a coffee spray-proof model.

The dems might learn something from this. If they're smart, they'll nominate a presidential candidate named George V V Bush for president. It's their only real chance.

We had "Scarface" parties in college - you took a shot every time Al Pacino said a certain eff word during the movie. Nobody ever made it to the end of the movie.
Somebody counted all the occurrences of that word in the movie - came out to over 250, IIRC.
