To You,
I thank you for your help and support, your distribution and authorings of materials, your YES Vote in support of California's Proposition 54! As I'm sure you are aware -- Proposition 54 did not win; but certainly NOT for lack of heroes in all aspects of public and private life doing all within their power to assert "these truths" and against one of the most well-funded Political-Smear campaigns in California History. Compared to 54's approx $200K in funding -- opposition to 54 'acquired' approx $10 million to fight Prop 54.
As far as the percentages in results went and especially in comparison to the amounts in the pro/anti 54 campaigns: 54 was without doubt -- the thrifty housewife! The awareness of the race boxes is now a part of the permanent lexicon within California.
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,99405,00.html "Before the results were in, Connerly acknowledged the uphill battle, quipping that Tuesday night's "victory party" would better be dubbed a wake".
The "wake" is true only in that everyone who attended last night's Prop 54 campaign election party knew in advance the likelihood of 54 losing was fairly solid. Ward Connerly was very clear pre-vote of the strong likelihood that 54 would not win; but last night's event in Sacramento was not a wake. There were no tears. Not a sad or downcast face anywhere. There was laughter, and joy, happy hugs and welcomes, and fierce new resolve.
We applauded and fondly, Tom McClintock's eloquent and moving concession speech; And jumped up yahooing, and applauding Arnold Schwarzenegger's win. We acknowledged with nodding heads the sole victory claimed by Bustamanate and Davis, as each in their concession speeches trumpeted --"I didn't win the governorship, but I/we DID win the fight against 54", and their "we put an end to wedge issues in politics" in California.
Mr. Connerly, in his concession speech before the crowd and the presses reserved his harshest words for the medical community, and most particularly for their most aggregious lie in proclaiming that 54 would kill minorities. He asserted the next initiative on this matter will have clearer, more specific language so that the dialogue on race might be more realistically discussed with dissenters. Further, he averred that he was going to contact these dissenters and meet with them face to face to discuss differences over 54, and how he and they might work together in remedying institutionalized racism.
Ward Connerly's last words in his speech were -- "We Will Be Back". And you, I, and California can take that to the bank.
There's no question in my mind, that your support and vote were directly responsible for clearing and proclaiming truths against one heck of a well-funded political "initiative" smear campaign. And, that your truths and good works, distributions and contributions, turned a great many minds towards voting YES on Proposition 54.
Thank you, and lastly, again -- "We Will Be Back!"
Very best regards,
...Alia
I certainly hope you're right. The loss of 54 was the one low point in what was otherwise an excellent election yesterday.
Maybe next time, the initiative will be better funded? I never saw any pleas for money for this one, and I heard Ward Connelly say that there was only $300,000 to push this one.

Cruisnator and Davis spent most their focus and time in front and behind the scenes fighting 54. I guess one cccoooouuuulllddd say.. We won by losing, in a manner of speaking, eh? :) Thanks for your support and response!
