RUSTON - For the first time in more than 60 years, the senator from District 35 will come from somewhere other than Jackson, Lincoln or Union parishes.

Official returns confirmed that former 2nd Circuit Court Judge Robert Kostelka defeated incumbent Sen. Bill Jones. Kostelka, R-Monroe, tallied 17,321 votes, while Jones, D-Ruston, totaled 16,122 votes.

Professor Stokely is wrong. There is a {Democrat} state senator named Robert Adley who lives off Interstate 20 between Shreveport and Monroe.

"This is an historic event," Louisiana Tech University journalism department chairman Wiley Hilburn said. "For years, I could walk from my office at Louisiana Tech to my senator's office; now I can't."

Is anybody surprised that a professor of journalism sees things in such a self-centric fashion?

Yeah seems like a dumb thing to say.

Anyway this is some good news out of LA. It made me feel a tad better after Mitch Landfill and Foti won.
