Re Katie's threat of a flood of "grope lawsuits" -- any FReeper lawyers who can help me out on this?

I'm not a lawyer, but I don't believe a single "grope" constitutes "sexual harassment" under either Title VII or Title IX.

There used to be many utterly frivolous sexual harassment lawsuits, but I believe a Supreme Court decision a few back, Oncale v. Sundowner, put a few limits on what can be termed "sexual harassment." (And heck, didn't even the National Organization of Women endorse the "one free grope" concept for Bill Clinton?)

I would think there'd be a statute of limitations on these claims too. Anyone know?

I tuned in just for a few minutes. I thought her smile particularly grim today. Poor thing.

CONCLUSIONS CAN BE DRAWN FROM THE CALIFORNIA RECALL ELECTION:

1) The Democrat Party has been steadily imploding. The withering on the vine of the Democrat Party can be traced to the Congressional elections of 1994 - no wonder that hated Newt Gingrich.

2) Republicans got about 3 out of every 5 votes in a very liberal California and the tax and spend Democrat Davis was booted from office by a massive turnout of voters.

3) Take a look at the Democrat Presidential candidates, could there be a weaker field? I don't think so.

4) HOPEFULLY the GOP Senate will see this obvious trend and get tough on the foolish Democrats and their silly obstructionist tactics. Republicans should now be emboldened and they should govern like conservative Republicans.

5) President Bush is doing a fine job, he'll handily win re-election, he can be comfortable in pushing his conservative programs and he should definately fight hard to put conservative judges on the Supreme Court to fill any upcoming vacancies.

I think what you say is true of domestic policy. But Clinton did untold damage to our national security. I think had he responded appropriately to the first WTC and OKC bombings that possibly 9-11 may not have happened. I think we're going to suffer for decades for his treasonous sellout of our country's security for personal gain.

Katie is a B*&^%. I do not understand why they keep her at NBC, but as long as they do they lose me as a viewer. Hopefully, she will not get invited to any of Maria and Arnold's parties, along with the other snots. Like Natalie Maines, of the Dixie Chicks, said she was embarressed to say that Arnold was running for Gov of California. @ of a kind, Natalie and Katie, I hope they drown in their own slobber.

"She was looking pretty rugged. In fairness, Katie is currently in California, and was probably up all night.."

And she looks like, in her haste to travel from NY to Kalifornia, she forgot her 'ol trusted vibrator!

Liberals hate conservative wins! Boy, Rush is gonna love this today. The Left is all in a collective meltdown. And perky Katie knows all the FOB where beaten in California fair and square.

A reasonable question, especially for the Today Show audience. What should have been answered more emphatically is that there are more then two choices. Besides raising taxes or cutting spending, economic growth is a third option and lastly that cutting taxes can actually raise revenue (foreign concept to Dems). Give examples of the Reagan tax cuts. Also the luxury tax that raised minimal $ but cost far more in revenue due to lost jobs, businesses, tax base, etc. Actually cutting taxes in CA might improve the business climate and raise revenues. The Reps need to do a better job explaining this.

...the first words out of Courics' mouth "polls show that 2/3 of the people feel Arnold didn't adequately explain his plans. What does that say about his leadership or his ability to communicate with the people?"

In the only polls that count--the voting booths--most people expressed the opinion that Arnold did adequately explain his plans. The 'Rats are attempting to perfect the art of denying election results that don't agree with them.

Next question: "When does he propose to address the groping allegations? Many of the women have retained high-powered lawyers. How concerned about lawsuits, how big a distratcion will that be?

I don't care how high-powered the lawyer, they will not be able to get around the Statute of Limitations. If Arnold has refrained from groping anybody for the last five years or so, he will not be subject to any liability whatsoever.

The only thing the high-powered lawyers will be able to do is flap their gums and make a public stink. And they have already done that.

Glad you mentioned economic growth as a third answer, because that's precisley what Dreier adroitly mentioned, stating that Arnold would focus on improving the business climate, etc.

Caught about five minutes of her today. Katie said something to the effect that today's politician needs a "scenic designer" for the visuals that go with a campaign, and then adds (paraphrasing):

"President Reagan started it, George Bush perfected it, and Schwarzenegger used it to win this campaign".

Where exactly was she for the eight years Clinton was president? It's like she "forgot" or something!

My two cents: The Dems made a mistake: They should have run Feinstein and appointed a Dem for her Senate seat. It could have been a win for them but they took the loss. Why?

You are corrct. Word is that organized labor vetoed any credible Democratic candidate -- including Feinstein -- on the ballot... they were determined to save Davis and were willing to roll the dice.

They did, and lost badly.
