I know what you are saying, but the talking point was so extreme that they were practically saying this "really a vote against Bush." Even Tim Russert got that concerned look on his face, lowered his voice, and said, "This does not bode well for George W. Bush." Minimal, if any, discussion of how the people might be striking back against years of insane liberal policies shoved down their throats.
Somehow it didn't strike me as real sincere.

Its a pleasure to see liberals fall apart. These people still haven't the slightest idea of why they lost. They think they had the wrong messenger. ROFL. As if Gray Davis' personality explains everything. As long as they remain in denial about the real source of their failure to win over the voters, the Democrats will keep on losing. Rush will tell them all about it in the California post-mortem on his show today.

The Congressman might be right if billy jeff starts campaigning for Bush. That's when I start worrying.

Wait a minute. If the Dems believed this, why did they allow one of their own to participate? Or don't they know that Busty is one of theirs?

I don't agree with this remark but it remains to be seen if recall was a good idea in the long run. It may turn out that having Grayout in would help Bush and the Republicans if Arnold isn't able to fix things.
In reality, though, I think some of the anger against Davis was also anti-Bush because of the economy. California's economy is doing worse than the nation's and I can't help but wonder if the people of the state would have tolerated him had things not been so bad on that account. Sort of like they did with Billygoat Clinton.
If Arnold can get things going and Bush fires Scott McClelland and gets out the word that the economy has recovered, both will do well. If not...

Just like Republican governors winning in New York, Florida, Texas, Massachusetts -- I could go on -- has meant BIG trouble for Bush. Baghdad Terry better look out for the falling statues of his favorite icons. (I always did like the name Idlewild better than JFK Airport, just like Floridians preferred Cape Canaveral.)

I'm on business trip so got to read USA todaY. A republican california congressman said the exact same thing as Schiff. I hate to agree with democrats about anything, but I agree on this issue. People are tired of the same career politicians out there. Bustamecha will be toast next election. You know what. I'm worried for Bush also. We need to visibly get our arms around the IRAQ situation, and we need to SEE that jobs are being created. I also think Bush will do better if he got another Vice Presdident. Cheney's ties to Halliburton, however innocent as they are, are not helpful. We all need to be more honest with ourselves instetad of dismissing everything a democrat says because they are democrats.
