[history]
From Moscow to his hometown, Arnold Schwarzenegger's victory in California was cheered Wednesday as a uniquely American political triumph with more drama and suspense than a Hollywood script.
After partying the night away, Austrian dignitaries and admirers in Schwarzenegger's home region celebrated his win by claiming him anew as one of their own.

The confetti is made from the text of Prop 54...

That is absolutely charming. Sure doesn't sound "anti-American" to me.

The above is my one last shot at the most ungracious winners I've seen since Greg Ganske's primary victory in Iowa last year.
Enjoy your celebrations.
I'll give you this much: He's better than Davis.

I agree, I noticed the mistake of the journalist also.

You guys -- as in you, McClintock supporters -- should be very glad that Schwarzenegger won and not Bustamante, despite your efforts at electing Bustamante.
If Bustamante had won, because of McClintock and his supporters, it would have poisoned the Republican party in California for years to come.
As it is, Arnold is a generous winner and is holding out an olive branch. What is interesting, is that Davis appears to be willing to take it, but I am not sure of the fellow Republicans, which is a sad commentary of the McClintock supporters -- it appears a personal cult is what is important, not the wellbeing of California or the nation.

It's in Austria. ;)

You guys -- as in you, McClintock supporters -- should be very glad that Schwarzenegger won and not Bustamante... Actually, I am.
...despite your efforts at electing Bustamante.
That is as much the 'Big Lie' as the first 500 times you told it.
If Bustamante had won, because of McClintock and his supporters, it would have poisoned the Republican party in California for years to come.
It is poisoned already. Liberalism has infected its bloodstream.
As it is, Arnold is a generous winner and is holding out an olive branch.
Fine. Conservatives are going to continue fighting for conservative principles. If he offers some, we'll take it gladly.
What is interesting, is that Davis appears to be willing to take it...
Interesting. What do you mean, specifically? Someone lending him shredders?
...but I am not sure of the fellow Republicans, which is a sad commentary of the McClintock supporters...
Who you think you're kidding?
-- it appears a personal cult is what is important, not the wellbeing of California or the nation.
Those are apt words coming from your mouth.

I think you are a very poor loser. Arnold was nothing but gracious in victory, but you and your McClintock koolaid drinkers are wallowing in your defeat.

I'm not wallowing in defeat. I'm very gratified to see Davis and Clinton et al get trounced.
I'm simply injecting some reality, after having been insulted all night by ungracious 'winners'.

What a pig of a newspaper. Not one nice word until he won the election. I was up in San Francisco about ten days ago, and the headlines were so anti-Schwarzenegger it was revolting.
To: FairOpinion
As it is, Arnold is a generous winnerWhich is why he deliberately cut off Bustamante's concession speech? Give me a break. Arnold is a jerk.

Let me ask you, since you're a political wonk extraordinaire. Do you think it would have been a good idea to waste political capital getting Prop 54 passed and possibly giving the enemy a wedge issue, or do you think it might have been wise to keep his eyes on the goal knowing he could do much more good if he had three years to lead the state?
Give it some thought. Take a few days. Don't rush it. I'm sure the answer will come to you over time.
