No, that's not true. If Davis had won, a new recall could not be brought against him for six months, but a recall could be brought immediately against a new Governor.
However, it really is not that easy to bring a recall. This has been the first successfull recall in the history of CA. Many have been tried, none have succeeded.
Also, to win a recall, they would have to get enough people to support it. With the support that Arnold is getting, that just isn't going to happen.
For them to attempt a recall now would probably backfire, just like the LA Slimes hit pieces backfired.

Davis beat Simon by a mere 5 pts in a low turnout. He had no mandate. I'm going to guess the numbers tonite will show a resounding defeat for Davis and a resounding victory for Arnold. The electorate won't go along with Bob Mullholland.

I have to believe that someone in the Democratic Party is smart enough to realize that they would get a lot more out of sniping at Arnold for three years and playing the long term strategy than to prematurely set off a political suicide bomb.
