Hume Notes Fallacious Idea Bush Cited Iraq's "Imminent Threat"

Eminently wrong on imminent threat. FNC's Brit Hume pointed out Monday night how, despite frequent media claims that President Bush cited the "imminent threat" from Saddam Hussein's Iraq as justification for going to war, "in fact, President Bush has publicly said just the opposite."

On the October 6 Special Report with Brit Hume, during the "Grapevine" segment, Hume observed: "The Associated Press says it. Reuters says it, the New York Times says it repeatedly. Senator Levin says it, so does Senator Rockefeller. What they all say is that the Bush administration claimed, as a justification for going to war in Iraq, that Saddam Hussein posed a quote, 'imminent threat.' In fact, President Bush has publicly said just the opposite, most conspicuously is his State of the Union address last January."

Bush in the State of the Union address: "Some have said we must not act until the threat is imminent. Since when have terrorists and tyrants announced their intentions, politely putting us on notice before they strike? If this threat is permitted to fully and suddenly emerge, all actions, all words, and all recriminations would come too late."

Did you see Brit's sparing match with Bob Mullholland ..?? Bob called the President, "Bush Jr.". Brit got that disgusted look on his face, and ask him where he got the name Bush Jr. Bob tried to say that when Bush Sr. was in the WH, Bob was around there all the time and that they (whoever "they" is) called him Bush Jr.

Brit then commented that he was at the WH at that time too, and he never heard the President called Bush Jr. The look on Brit's face was priceless.

Bob was exceptionally obnoxious tonight, and I was so glad to see Brit dress him down about his Bush comment.

Mulholland was cracking up on O'R also - talking about the depression and how a republican created it. A bad night for Mulholland and a good night for the GOP.

I also loved it when Bob said that he was going to give Arnold 100 days and if the unemployment wasn't down to 4%, they would do a recall. Brit rolled his eyes and said something about being sure Arnold would be grateful and Bob just smirked. That guy is so ..... I can't think of a word to describe it.

I did see that exchange.

Now, I'd heard about Mulholland's dirty tricks, but hadn't ever seen him.

What a truly ugly human being, inside and out. Mulholland is CARVILLE ugly.

Parents, point Mulholland out to your kids as an example of what happens when one lives to win at politics to the exclusion of all else.

Someone else here said it first, but it bears repeating. The more the dems put out people like Pelousi, Carville, McAwful and Mullhollard spewing their vindictive stuff .. the better it is for republicans.

I loved Pelousi's complaint that "no person in office should have to be looking over their shoulder - expecting a recall". What I say is: IF MORE POLITICIANS HAD TO BE LOOKING OVER THEIR SHOULDER EXPECTING A RECALL - THEY WOULD BE A WHOLE LOT MORE ACCOUNTABLE. And .. Fred Barnes agreed with me. Hah! The woman is pitiful!
