The Olympics are in Athens in less than a year. Time for the Greeks to finally get serious about Al Qaeda.

Thanks for the flag. Given that the reporter described this person as Al Qaeda, and then later on as Taliban, I view this report with some skepticism. But it does appear from the government spokesman's comments that some high profile criminal type is under arrest. Goodie!

The Olympics are in Athens in less than a year. Time for the Greeks to finally get serious about Al Qaeda. So this doesn't qualify as serious? I hear a lot of fearmongering about Greece and the Olympics. It is almost like some people want terrorism to happen.

So this doesn't qualify as serious? You misunderstood me--yes its serious & its great that the Greeks nabbed this guy.
Having said that, it wasn't until the British Defense attache in Greece was killed by November 17 terrorists a couple of years ago and the Olympics began drawing near that the Greeks began cracking down. What has it been--25 years?--that the Greeks somehow couldn't find a single one of these November 17 guys while they shot & bombed and murdered Americans & Brits & other foreigners. First November 17 terrorist group murder of an American--the CIA chief in Greece in 1975; followed by many more atacks over the years. First arrest of a November 17 terrorist by the Greeks--2002.
It is almost like some people want terrorism to happen.
No, it is almost like some governments haven't been very serious about catching terrorists. But now it appears they are and more power to them.

If Greece is to blame for not catching N17 quicker, then America, Britain and indeed others are partly responsible. Why? Because members of the CIA, MI6, Scotland Yard and FBI have been working on their own and with the Greek government on catching these guys, with no results. You cannot heap all the responsibility on Greece, for whoever offers to help is taking upon them some measure of the burden and responsibility whatever the outcome.
And just to clarify, the VAST majority of N17's targets were Greek, including the current Mayor of Athens who's husband was assasinated by them.

The Greeks have no sympathy for foreign agents working to destabilize their country.
