EU determined to abolish death penalty worldwide
The European Union says it wants to use all diplomatic means to try and persuade China, Iran, the US, Japan and others to abolish the death penalty.
The EU is teaming up with other countries, including Mexico and Canada, and the 45-nation Council of Europe in calling for the end of capital punishment.
On Friday, the 15-nation EU bloc plans to mark the first 'World day against the Death Penalty.'
Efforts to try and convince Washington and Tokyo to scrap the punishment have not been easy, EU officials say.
"This is a complex and delicate area," said Daniele Smadja, head of the European Commission's human rights section. "We should not lose hope. We do get results, but progress is slow."
On Friday's anti-death penalty day, activities are planned in some 45 countries to raise awareness for the issue.

That's fine
We'll just ship all murderers, rapists, and serial killers straight to the EU.
It'll cut down on court fees.

Well how about this: first all the countries of Old Europe institute a quaint concept called "presumption of innocence." THEN they can start criticizing others. We need to demand they provide humane protections to the accused.

Human Rights?
How about simply asking countries not to put people into jail for their political beliefs as a start?
human rights for axe murderers but not for the political prisoners in Cuba, China, Zimbabwe, Venezuala, etc.
btw, most europeans support the death penalty.

It seems the EU is a little late for Usay and Quday.
But we all should know that when the EU says "worldwide", they mean "in the United States".

Its a European thing, given the tendency of european peasants to line up the aristocrats (now eurocrats) along a wall and shoot them.
It will not take much for the euro populace to demand the application of the death penalty.
They have to remove the death penalty in order to remove the right to self defense. Nobody is entitled to kill in self defense. Europeans are really ignorant boobs.
I vote we start a new coalition to export the 2nd amendment to the entire world. A gun in every free hand.

How about they just mind their own damn business? What a concept!

Maybe the EU doesn't realize that here in the U.S. each state decides how to treat their criminals.
