Yes indeed! That's why they're already beginning to backpedal nervously. They screamed and howled for an investigation, but after Bush simply agreed to it and ordered the Justice Dept. to go ahead, seal papers and correspondence, etc., things changed.
Yesterday, the Times was outraged because some reporters were being "intimidated" by having the FBI seize e-mails sent to them. Hey, that's how an investigation works.
Nobody was "initimdating" them, but if the files at the Government end are going to be seized, obviously it's going to point in their direction. And while the reporters are not subject to prosecution, whoever sent those e-mails is.
The whole point of this was simply to cause a commotion that would make people begin to doubt everything Bush has ever said about anything, just more of what the Dems have spent the entire summer doing. But I think maybe, just maybe, Wilson & Co. overplayed their hand.
