Yeah, that'll do.

Even though I voted for McClintock, I've said from day one, If Schwarzenegger gets it, he would be light years better than the little communist Gray Davis...

What Mara tried to say is that unless AS pulls a number higher than those voting for a recall, he will not have a mandate. She began explaining but Fred Barnes (bless his heart) began to contradict saying when you combine the votes for Arnold and Tom, it may exceed the percentage voting for recall and will be a GOP mandate (paraphrasing as I was caught up in his excitement). Brit cleared it up saying if Arnold pulls a number higher than the recall vote, it will be easier to work with a dem. legislature as he will have a mandate. Apparently Arnold's camp is hoping that is the outcome as well.

Nice - Arnold is pushing a majority here. That will help when he talks about his "mandate."

DAMN... I thought it was only the Rats who were that retarded. Remember the Geezers voting for Buchanan?

Arnold may be attracting some of those "confused voter" types over to the GOP...

The Associated Press
Tuesday, October 7, 2003

(10-07) 15:49 PDT (AP) --

Tuesday's California recall by the numbers:

VOTERS ELIGIBLE vs. REGISTERED: 21,833,141 versus 15,380,536

REGISTRATION BY PARTY: Democrats, 43.7 percent; Republicans, 35.3 percent; decline to state, 16 percent; American Independent, 2 percent; Green, 1.1 percent.

ABSENTEE BALLOTS: Requested, 3,229,519; turned in, 2,163,427.

POLLING PLACES: Typically about 25,000, consolidated to about 12,500; 50,000 poll workers, or about four to a polling place.

CANDIDATES: 135 on ballot, including the names of several who dropped out -- Republicans Bill Simon and Peter Ueberroth and independent Arianna Huffington. There also are official write-in candidates.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates listed on ballot paid a $3,500 filing fee and collected 65 voter signatures, or submitted 10,000 voter signatures instead of paying the fee. Write-in candidates paid no filing fees, but collected 65 to 100 voter signatures and filled out statements of economic interests.

COST: $66 million -- $11 million for state and $55 million for 58 counties.

MONEY RAISED: $75 million. Arnold Schwarzenegger raised the most, $18.25 million through Californians for Schwarzenegger and $3.3 million through Schwarzenegger's Total Recall Committee. Three pro-Davis committees collected $18 million -- Californians Against the Costly Recall, $14.2 million; Taxpayers Against the Recall, $2.6 million, and the Gov. Gray Davis Committee, $1.2 million.

BALLOTS: 80 versions, one for each state Assembly District, with the list of candidates rotated to avoid giving advantage to names at the top.

VOTER TURNOUT: County officials expecting higher than the 50.7 percent in November 2002 gubernatorial election, and lower than the 71 percent of November 2000 presidential election. California's record high turnout was 88.4 percent in Nov. 3, 1964, presidential election.

COUNTING THE VOTE: Counties have 28 days, until Nov. 5, to complete their count. Secretary of State Kevin Shelley has 39 days, until Nov. 15, to certify the election results.

OTHER STATES WITH RECALL PROVISION: 18, plus the District of Columbia.

RECALL PRECEDENT: North Dakota voters recalled Gov. Lynn Frazier in 1921.

Sanches on Hardball saying president Bush responsible for Cal. economy, I want to throw up!!

Of course he is. Those tax cuts were devasting to the average Californian taxpayer who has more cash in his pocket. And who can tell what damage was done to those poor business that are allowed to write off those capital investments.

"57% VOTE 'YES' FOR RECALL,
47% FOR SCHWARZENEGGER"

That's:
43% for Davis (against recall)
47% for Arnold.

That's the 'mandate' Maura Liasson was predicting wouldn't happen.
