Washington, D.C. - Democratic presidential candidates are fighting over whether it is a good idea to keep pursuing the free-trade policy that was a hallmark of the Clinton administration.
Because of the importance of trade to Iowa farmers and manufacturers, the intraparty struggle will have implications for the state if Democrats retake the White House.

Glad to see Dick Gephardt is against NAFTA and current Free Trade policies, but he's a liberal democrat just the same who supports amnesties for illegal aliens, higher taxes and more regulations.
The fight has to be on the right, with more pro-American conservative candidates winning primaries and getting elected to the House and Senate and influencing policy changes. The democrats are worthless.

I really like George W. Bush and I want to vote for him.
However, I will VOTE AGAINST HIM if he continues to look the other way concerning NAFTA and GATT. NAFTA and GATT are very important to me and will have a MAJOR IMPACT on how I vote.

Trade IMHO isn't a 100% bad deal. It depends on a whole lot of things...
Some things definately need fixing though.

No trade is a terrific thing. This current incarnation of "free trade", however, is neither "free" nor is it "trade". What is needed is a trade policy that protects and promotes the manufacturing and production interests of the US over any sort of starry-eyed globalist one world "why can't we all just get along" Marxist ideal.
