I've stayed out of this one, living next door in Arizona, thus not having an actual vote, but I believe that California can take a huge step towards returning from exile by electing the Terminator tomorrow. This is as big a grassroots election as seen anywhere in the nation since Proposition 13 was passed a quarter of a century ago, ironically in the same state.
In 1992, true believers voted for Ross Perot and instead elected the slimey weasel Clinton and his noxious wife. We are still dealing with the consequences of that misguided vote. Please don't do it again.
Twenty one years ago, California faced an absolute bloodbath in its Republican gubernatorial primary. Lieutenant Governor Mike Curb, a true believer, faced the more pragmatic George Deukmajian, with the latter coming out victorious. The Democrats were certain that Tom Bradley would win the governorship, but the GOP warfare made them so overconfident they were lulled to sleep. Republicans and Independents pulled together behind the Duke and on an election night where the Crats and Bolshies won everywhere else, California elected one of its finest governors.
I was a Mike Curb guy back then. But Deukmajian made a heck of a governor. The same opportunity is there again. I second Jim Robinson's appeal for those of you in the Golden State to vote for Arnold S.
