45,000 E-mails and Counting – Thank You

October 6, 2003

2:08 PM ET BEGIN TRANSCRIPT Rush Limbaugh Radio Show

Let me again express a sentiment of pure love and appreciation for all of you. Since last week, when the ESPN brouhaha hit and the drug story hit, the number of e-mails is unbelievable to me. It's approaching the 45,000 mark now. I continue to be overawed by it.

And I just want to take some time here to acknowledge a vast majority of people's support. It is overwhelming. And I want you to know I'm getting it and I receive it. It moves me deeply and greatly. I appreciate it, as I have your support of this program all 15 years, more than I am able to express with words. And I just want you to know that. I never have said it enough, and I want to try to correct that from now on, but I said last Friday that we in this program, we have almost a familial type relationship that has evolved here, and I understand what that entails. And I understand the bond of loyalty that exists and what ties that loyalty together, and one of the things is trust. And I realize that that is shaken in a lot of you, but yet you maintain that you are full-fledged behind me. And I appreciate that, and you will have that support, I hope, validated. You will know that I have continued, and will do what I have to do to earn it, and never take it for granted.

Before we get any further with all this I just want you to know how I appreciate what you're all saying, how much I appreciate all that you've done over all these years and how desperately much I appreciate your expressions of support now. Believe me. I notice it and I'm taking none of it for granted. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

We need to be there for this guy. He has paved the way for the free expression of conservative ideas. Please keep Rush in your hearts and prays.

Rush deserves our support and has mine. I'm shocked that without even being charged, even Freepers are all too willing to dump on Rush.

I know I'm not perfect, don't purport to be, and neither does Rush.

Rush started it all. He was there before conservative talk radio (he started it), before the internet, before FOX, before FR.

George Putnam was expressing conservative views twenty years before Rush was on talk radio. Rush didn't do anything but act as a pacifier for the conservative movement to sleep. If Rush were doing his job, Arnold would have been laughed out of the party when he ran for Governor. And I don't remember a worse President than Bill Clinton; all while the "Great Rush" was leading us to a more conservative America. And with the EIB mike ensconced in New York, Hillary became Senator. What a powerful force of conservatism Rush is. I knew when he ran and hid from the homosexual activists during the "Rush to excellence" tour, he was nothing but a self-serving carnival barker. "See the grotesque liberals in Washington, freaks of nature they are." And each day the conservative movement got more and more comfortable in their sleep, being hypnotized by "El Rushbo", while their country goes to hell.

Wake up Christians and stop playing church, to enter God's Kingdom there must be a COMPLETE new birth."

45,000 e-mails?

With his the size of his audience he's probably taking a sleep-helper pill tonight.

Having grown up in Europe and still visiting the old country every now and then, showed me how brainwashed I had been.
My family there still asks me where do you get that information? We never heard...

Only after listening to Rush and reading his books, was I exposed to a different view point and now we are more confident to question the main stream press' take on the issues.
Europe needs their own Rush Limbaugh otherwise it will be lost.
We better realize and appreciate what we have in this man.
He is our nation's treasure, a voice in the wilderness..

Thanks Rush, I am with you all the way and praying that the truth will exonerate you in the end.

Advancing good ideas shouldn't mean you have to cut into someone to do it. It's too bad you feel that you must.

I lose more respect for this guy everyday. If he's so grateful why is he releasing the number of emails he's getting? Oh wait.. that's right.. he's using as a weapon against the public. Oh yeah.. love RUsh.. he has 45,000 support emails(and don't forget.. and counting).

Get over yourself Rush.. you need to pass on quietly into retirement.

Hmm... Seems to me he's merely being gracious. I wouldn't read anything more into it than that.

Thanks to Rush, I, and thousands of others were converted over to Conservatism from liberalism. I wonder just what you've done for the cause that would top that? Let me guess, nothing. Thought so.

From the Wall Street Journal:

"...although conservatives think that character matters in public life, we have never bought into the idea that moral credibility is predicated on moral perfection.

If moral credibility were predicated on moral perfection, even our church pulpits would be silent. I'm sure liberals would not agree, but in my view, character has as much to do with how we handle our failings as the failings themselves."
