45,000 E-mails and Counting – Thank You

October 6, 2003

2:08 PM ET BEGIN TRANSCRIPT Rush Limbaugh Radio Show

Let me again express a sentiment of pure love and appreciation for all of you. Since last week, when the ESPN brouhaha hit and the drug story hit, the number of e-mails is unbelievable to me. It's approaching the 45,000 mark now. I continue to be overawed by it.

And I just want to take some time here to acknowledge a vast majority of people's support. It is overwhelming. And I want you to know I'm getting it and I receive it. It moves me deeply and greatly. I appreciate it, as I have your support of this program all 15 years, more than I am able to express with words. And I just want you to know that. I never have said it enough, and I want to try to correct that from now on, but I said last Friday that we in this program, we have almost a familial type relationship that has evolved here, and I understand what that entails. And I understand the bond of loyalty that exists and what ties that loyalty together, and one of the things is trust. And I realize that that is shaken in a lot of you, but yet you maintain that you are full-fledged behind me. And I appreciate that, and you will have that support, I hope, validated. You will know that I have continued, and will do what I have to do to earn it, and never take it for granted.

Before we get any further with all this I just want you to know how I appreciate what you're all saying, how much I appreciate all that you've done over all these years and how desperately much I appreciate your expressions of support now. Believe me. I notice it and I'm taking none of it for granted. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I see. What a bummer! Talk radio would probably be a great encouragement to Euro conservatives -- although I would guess that the number of true American-style conservatives, which is to say liberals in the classical sense, people who are into the sovereignty of the individual and limited government, is probably pretty small. Most European conservatives are probably still statists and socialists, but with more of a right-wing, traditionalist flavor (this is a semi-informed guess on my part). An underground station that catered to this second group would probably trigger leftist riots across the continent and be immediately shut down.

Anyway, thank goodness for our free radio waves here in the US.

Lets see Limbaugh has converted thousands to the conservative cause

While you have done nothing for it.

Yet we're supposed to take your illegitimate criticism (based purely on unsubstantiated rumors and politically correct double standards) of him seriously. I don't think so.

That might pass for intellectual argument on DU, But here its just looks ridiculous.

The personal insults are always a sign that the argument is lost. I agree with you on Rush.

IMHO he was a pompous clown meant to distract conservatives while the RINO's took over the republican party, witness Arnold Schwarzennegger.

His dittoheads turned him into a little god who can do no wrong not unlike demoRats with Bill Clinton.

I've seen a ton of people say McNabb is overrated.. not a single one(dating back to 2000) say he was overrated because he is black.

So when a whole lot of sportswriters wrote a few years back that the media was paying too much attention to Mark McGuire and not enough to Sammy Sosa because McGuire is white. Why weren't they all fired?

Don't look now, but your "open mind that considers all the facts" just swallowed up a giant liberal double standard without even questioning it.

But then liberal minds are rarely anywhere near as "open" as they think they are.

Because they run companies like ExxonMobil / Shell / Smith International / BPAmoco.

And somehow, because these are well known companies, you KNOW that their work is NOT affected???

Listen I guess everyone's work is affected by their personality, is that what you want said??? However if it is affecting them, given the way these companies make money, I suggest more people become pompous!

Ah, more proof that you dittohead cultists have lost the argument,

calling somebody a "pompous clown" is not an argument. Liberals usually think that kind of thing is an argument, but it's not.

Amen to that. This place used to be cool. Now there are so many libertines showing up on nearly every thread attacking conservatives and conservatism. Why don't they get their own site instead of ruining this one?

No I didn't care of the guy.. he does good work.. but everyone knows he's an egotisical jack***. I admire his work.. but that doesn't mean he doesn't deserve what he gets either.

Well good luck to you then. As I can see you are dedicated to flawed logic and your own educated bias.

Really? So please tell us when James Brown and Chris Berman (among many, many others) are fired for constantly harping about not having enough black head coaches in the NFL.

The leftist media didn't like it? A lot of conservative type folk didn't like it either. The people that are defending Rush are the same people who have been brainwashed into thinking the leftist media is always wrong. They have different opinions but they aren't always wrong! Sigh.

EXCUSE ME, BUT I AM NOT BRAINWASHED. I THINK THAT TITLE BELONGS TO YOU - YOU MUST HAVE WATCHED TOO MUCH CNN.
