45,000 E-mails and Counting Thank You
October 6, 2003
2:08 PM ET BEGIN TRANSCRIPT Rush Limbaugh Radio Show
Let me again express a sentiment of pure love and appreciation for all of you. Since last week, when the ESPN brouhaha hit and the drug story hit, the number of e-mails is unbelievable to me. It's approaching the 45,000 mark now. I continue to be overawed by it.
And I just want to take some time here to acknowledge a vast majority of people's support. It is overwhelming. And I want you to know I'm getting it and I receive it. It moves me deeply and greatly. I appreciate it, as I have your support of this program all 15 years, more than I am able to express with words. And I just want you to know that. I never have said it enough, and I want to try to correct that from now on, but I said last Friday that we in this program, we have almost a familial type relationship that has evolved here, and I understand what that entails. And I understand the bond of loyalty that exists and what ties that loyalty together, and one of the things is trust. And I realize that that is shaken in a lot of you, but yet you maintain that you are full-fledged behind me. And I appreciate that, and you will have that support, I hope, validated. You will know that I have continued, and will do what I have to do to earn it, and never take it for granted.
Before we get any further with all this I just want you to know how I appreciate what you're all saying, how much I appreciate all that you've done over all these years and how desperately much I appreciate your expressions of support now. Believe me. I notice it and I'm taking none of it for granted. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

"Honestly, Rush would have been better off just being himself. It's certainly debatable whether he'd have been as successful, of course."
Tell us all about what you know about being THAT successful. You are a bit full of yourself, amongst other things.

What does succes per se have to do with it? Ted Turner is successful too. That's some whizbanger of an argument you make.

It was entirely predictable that a dittohead might call me a clown tonight. Entirely predictable.

In most countries, radio in Europe is owned by the state. When "banned" radio stations get going as underground stations and are let to broadcast (after a revolt by young people), they invariably turn out to be leftie alternative rock types of stations. I never heard anything "talk-wise" except for our Armed Forces Network, which will play the audio of some political US TV shows on occasion, or news stations, again usually owned by the government.

The leftist media didn't like it? A lot of conservative type folk didn't like it either. The people that are defending Rush are the same people who have been brainwashed into thinking the leftist media is always wrong. They have different opinions but they aren't always wrong! Sigh.

How quaint. A variation on the theme, "Ditto!" Is that what Texans say instead, to try and sound tuff? I was a transplanted Texan for a while. The pressure to be macho is enormous!
To: dyno35
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahaha.
Oh that was rich.. I'm jealous.. I have a forum where thousands of people can read my post everyday and I'm jealous because Rush is on the air. You got me.. your right....
Any more bright ideas today?
To: witnesstothefall
Yes, indeed. If you sound like a clown, you will be labeled a clown.
LOL

What would be the point of topping it.. are we in a contest? Does the winner get to be the only one that goes to heaven? I'm not sure I get your point.
To: Almondjoy
On the contrary. Rush is very humble. The traditional bravado is an act. Sean Hannity was just saying today that Rush is incredibly generous in ways that he has never published or mentioned. Rush was incredibly gracious publicly toward ESPN and those cohosts of his, while they trashed him in public the minute he was out of sight. That contrast shows you we are dealing with a man of character.
He is mortal. But he is a good man, a man with a heart, a man with incredible courage, and he has soared on the wings of his success as well as paid dearly for it.
Prayers are going up for you always, Rush. I hope you have some real-life support system around you now when you need it the most.

Humor will get you everywhere with me........
I do something for the conversative movement everyday.. provoke discussion and arguement. I make people think about their positions everyday. See rather than some people(not naming names) who only soak in information and are brainwashed, I read articles from all sides.. get all opinions and base my opinion on all the information possible.
I highly doubt you do the same.
To: AlwaysLurking
He has paved the way for the free expression of conservative ideas. I can remember being somewhat embarrassed to be seen with a bottle of Snapple--in the late '80s?--as I assumed that it would mark me as a listener. While Rush is right about us not truly having the free speech our Founding Fathers bestowed upon us, thanks to Rush conservative speech is a lot freer now than it was a couple of decades ago.

No doubt..... That's the gig.. I've seen a ton of people say McNabb is overrated.. not a single one(dating back to 2000) say he was overrated because he is black. Rush went to far pushing his agenda... if he had proof fine.. but he didn't.. he made an opinion with no basis for fact. When you play with fire you can't expect anything less than getting burned.
To: Yaelle
Rush gives to charities that he never mentions. He also takes care of his friends and family.
No one will ever know, by his choice, how much and how often.
