Either did I. I pinged OKC for months until a few people told me to stop. Thread monitors, I guess.
At any rate, we need to keep this bumped until some of our experts check in. Thread monitor I am, I guess.

It's Williams that warmed of arab pilots training in Phoenix. Not Ellen. Williams was Ellen's contact though..

The counterterrorism operation in 1998 and 1999 was run out of the FBI's Phoenix office in cooperation with Israeli intelligence and was approved by Attorney General Janet Reno (search), FBI officials told The Associated Press.
Several thousand dollars in U.S. money was sent to suspected terror supporters during the operation as the FBI tried to track the flow of cash through terror organizations, the FBI said in a rare acknowledgment of an undercover sting that never resulted in prosecutions.
"This was done in conjunction with permission from the attorney general for an ongoing operation, and Israeli authorities were aware of it," the bureau said.

When I first read this article, my swooning was stopped by a string of words you can't say on TV. And lots of them.

Could this be the Republicans giving the rats a taste of their own medicine, vis-a-vis embarassing revelations in the press? They must have a ton of dirt on the dirtbag clintons, and this could just be a shot across the bow.

"This is payback for the Wilson leak." Actually, it's a test to see if the press will be even-handed and attack Clinton in the same manner thwy would attack Bush. My guess is they'll yawn real big. If it was Bush, it would be Crucfixion Day.

The White House wasn't aware of this! Ha Ha!
But I betcha Hillary knew!
Scary stuff, the worse being that it never led to any prosecutions.

Just how much foreign espionage was the FBI supposed to be involved in before the post-9/11 realignment, anyway? Technically none, however they had, and continue to have the domestic counter intelligence mission. Plus, I think sending money to terrorists is a federal crime, so their normal law enforcement duties would apply as well.
The Clintonistas gave plenty of money aboveboard and in the open to the PLA, which is just as good as giving it to Hamas, Fatah (various factions) and Islamic Jihad. I'm sure you've noticed how many of the masked Pali "gunmen" have AR-15s? Well many of those were provied to them, via the so called Palistinian "Security Services", by ol Billy Jeff.

"While President Clinton was trying to broker an elusive peace between Israelis and Palestinians, the FBI was secretly funneling money to suspected Hamas figures to see if the militant group would use it for terrorist attacks, according to interviews and court documents."
Well. Why didn't Clinton and the FBI catch the terrorists who pulled off Oklahoma City and TWA 800? Hmm?

It seems part of this story is missing. It doesn't quite pass the smell test:
The counterterrorism operation in 1998 and 1999 was run out of the FBI's Phoenix office in cooperation with Israeli intelligence and was approved by Attorney General Janet Reno, FBI officials told The Associated Press.
Several thousand dollars in U.S. money was sent to suspected terror supporters during the operation as the FBI tried to track the flow of cash through terror organizations, the FBI said in a rare acknowledgment of an undercover sting that never resulted in prosecutions.

Is this the same office that had information that Middle Easterners were training at an aviation school in AZ? Is that why they weren't successful with counterterrorism?

And also Ellen claimed that Williams blew his (Ellen's) cover by writing that memo.
