What the Turks really want in Northern Iraq is dead Kurds and access to oil fields.

The $8 Billion + loan we just gave Turkey is provisional, and based on the agreement that the do not enter the Kurdish-controlled zone.

Good info. Thanks. But Turkey was not there when we needed it. Screw 'em!

If the Turks are deployed in the Baghdad or "Sunni Triangle" areas (and stay there), this could be a very good thing. Turkey would be the first predominantly Muslim country to station troops in Iraq (refuting the "war on Islam" propaganda theme). If the Regime Loyalists and Jihadists start a blood feud with the Turks by conducting terrorist operations against them, they'll not live to regret it. This could be an opportunity to restore traditional US/Turkish military ties. And, as other have suggested, this could free up US troops for other operations.

>> that the do not enter the Kurdish-controlled zone

Add the word "unilaterally" and you've got something closer to the facts. Add the fact that we've already have 5000+ mechanized infantry in northern Iraq.

Also a fact that last week the US finally agreed to a joint action plan against the terrorist PKK in northern Iraq. That was the watershed, not your filthy f'in money :^\

We Turks know all about your shrewd moves and your fickle partisan congress. No long term promises made by any US president can be trusted, and only a few short term ones can.

I seem to remember your congress screwing the Turks on multiple occasions over the past ten years, all as part of the infamous peace dividend delusion. Blocking weapons sales at the height of our war on terror really took the cake.
