I can't say I've seen all of Arnold Schwarzenegger's movies, though I have seen enough to know that I don't think much of them. When I call them up in memory, they mostly seem stupid, though most of them were expensive to make.

Unlike running state government, where we, the people, are about to offer on-the-job training to a complete novice.
Agreed. California is much better off under an experienced professional like Gray Davis. / sarcasm.

My idea of a good movie:
good guys and bad guys,
pretty women,
Explosions,
The good guy wins.
I go to moveis for fun, I have enough "Real Life" the rest of the time.
Arnolds movies fit the bill.

We will be hearing the lamentations of many dim women soon if Arnold wins.

Gray Davis has all this wonderful political experience and has given us a disastrous legacy: a monstrous state budget deficit and gutter level politics. Sure, Arnold Schwarzenegger is a complete political novice, but that's exactly what attracts Californians to him: he's not part of the elite class here. And he can hardly do a worse job than the current incumbent and might even turn out to be an improvement.

I can't say I've seen all of Jaime O'Neill's columns, though I have seen enough of one to know that I don't think much of it.
I suppose that experience such as that which is evident by the performance of the current governor of California is what they really need out there.

"Citizen Schwarzenegger decided that he is now prepared to 'fix California,' though he has no real experience in politics." Yeah, they need a career politician.

I gotta admit, that one's cute, especially since I'm an amateur filmmaker myself.
Surely a governor who's worked his way up in government from scut jobs to leader of men is a better candidate than someone with no experience and a lot of advisors keen to help him out.
Except that governor was a rotten failure from the start, because he didn't know how to lead. Leading and inspiring people is very different from being a staff member with little people-oriented responsibility. And Gray Davis, almost from the beginning, is proven as an exceptionally poor leader of people.
Arnold Schwarzenegger is a born leader. Love him or hate him, whether he gropes women or not, he has shown proven ability to lead and inspire.
So in the end, I can't buy this argument. Arnold's a leader. Gray Davis is not. Tom McClintock is not, either. If you want someone who can lead, you have only one choice: Arnold.

Mongol General: We have won again. That is good! But what is best in life?
Mongol General: The open steppe, fleet horse, falcon on your wrist, wind in your hair!
Mongol General: Wrong! Conan, what is best in life?
Conan: To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of the women!
Mongol General: That is good.

The author's picture of Arnold is all wrong.
Just take steroids and go to the gym and you'll look like Arnold? Try it.
Anyone do what Arnold did on screen - be as fascinating and entertaining and interesting? Try it.
The guy is a political neophyte? With a business and real-estate empire like his, he's managed to avoid learning anything about government? Ha-Ha-Ha.
Anyone can surround himself with very talented advisors (whether you like them or not that's how to characterize the men surrounding Arnold)? Oh sure. Nothing too it.
The article is nothing but a childish, partisan hit piece.

You know that.
The disgusting part is that it's the same batch of corporate thugs that fomented the power crisis in the first place. It may have taken 25 years, but what the heck...
Nothing big and bad goes on for very long unless both sides are dirty!
