I beleive the guy has been grabbing ass and breasts. That's not something he should have been doing as an adult. I do believe he's been doing it more recently than we've been led to believe in public.

I do believe this may get worse. As I have said, I intend to vote for him at this point, so I have no ax to grind directed at taking him down.

He's running against the equivelant of a brown David Duke. I wouldn't vote for a white one, so why would I vote for a brown one of those?

If you don't concede that Arnold was fooling around behind Maria's back after they were married, I'm not going to argue. I think character is just one of those things you have to get a feel for. My impressions of Arnold began to coalesce from a distance well before the recall process started.

As to abuse of power, you are welcome to your interpretation. I look at it from an abstract viewpoint. I have read that sexual harassment is about power. I take a wider view than your narrow interpretation of the phrase. Power in all its forms can always be abused by the wielder.

Well, this campaign against him certainly seems to have convinced you. Why believe it all? You assume it is all correct. I'm rather surprised. You keep calling him disgusting, deeply flawed, despicable. So if he wins he starts off with this as his legacy when possibly (ever consider it?) these are not real cases. Anonymous ones. Trivial ones. Long-ago ones. And often refuted by others. Ever consider they are contrived? But if you automatically believe it all then the Dems win either way...he either loses the election, or his credibility as a new governor has been completely compromised. And probably by as big of lies and exaggerations they are now throwing at Pres. Bush and Rush Limbaugh.

Think of that fraudulant Hitler charges. He has been an overt supporter of Jewish causes and Holocaust survivors for years. Yet the DNC goes along with the misquote and all of them demand he apologize. For what? A sham. A lie from the other side, and a very blatant one. He has done more for Israelis than most of us put together. And if the long-ago quote is correct (and even that hasn't been proven) he never once said he admired anything about the dictator than his ability to captivate the attention of a crowd as a speaker. He said it in his 20's as a recent immigrant from Hitler's native land. And in a language he at the time barely knew. IF he even said it. No adoration there for the man whose followers he once chased out of Graz. And he has been trying to compensate for the sins of his nation all his life...ones that occurred before he was born.

Let's quit believing the last-minute smears from the other side. Be skeptical, as you probably would if they were about McClintock or some of the other more traditional candidates. At least give him the benefit of the doubt as so many of you quickly did Kobe Bryant...innocent until PROVEN guilty, remember?

I'm so confused by FR lately. I just can't seem to get a handle on which way the wind is blowing.

So far all I can figure out is that if an unnamed sources accuse Arnold of actually touching her/them, them it must be true, and he's a pervert and shouldn't be permitted out of the house.

But at the same time, if somebody accuses Rush of buying illegal narcotics, she's a liar, nobody should believe it, and it's probably for Marta anyway? (Or the best one I read: he's doing it to take the heat off Bush's leak "problem."

What's WRONG with this picture???

I would prefer to think that ordinary people don't act that way, 20 years ago or today.

I've known people who acted that way 20 years ago, and I still think of them as class-A you-know-whats. No matter what the term for the behavior is, either then or now.

You are correct. Many in this forum are still in the McClintock vs Arnold mode. They fail to understand that it is the recall itself which is danger due to the last minute sliming. People don't see Bustamante as a viable alternative, and don't believe that Tom can win. Thus, if Arnold is slimed enough that people see him as unacceptable, the recall will fail as people will conclude "better the devil you know".. This is how Grayout wins all of his elections.

Very well. But IMHO Arnold needs to be watched, closely, for his personal behavior and public policy making from here on out, if he makes it. IMHO these behavior patterns are rooted deeply in the personality and have a habit of re-emerging later.

I understand. In fact, I knew all that when I read your original words. Nevertheless, your comment referred to a statement I had made, where I used the term in question with the canonical semantics. It's not fair to criticize my statement based on an interpretation of the terms I use that differs from what was intended. That's my basic point.

Additionally, consider the following: Any crime, or wrongful act, can abstractly be viewed as an 'abuse of power,' using the level of abstraction you apparently prefer. That deprives the term of any additional meaning or utility beyond saying that someone did something wrong.

You may prefer to think that, but that doesn't make it true.

And for goodness sakes, we're talking about MOVIE PEOPLE.

For all you know, these woman are from Central Casting.

I don't discount it, but I'm not sure it's working. It seems as if people are really angry at the Times and Davis. I may be reading the reaction wrong though.

I would suggest applying this policy to any and all politicians--in proportion to the power with which they are entrusted.

This McClintock crew is the most despicable element I've ever seen on FR. Vengeful arsonists, Arnold stole "THEIR" recall, their Governorship.

No doubt they bullied Tom into making his principled last stand. His political career is through.

If you're trying to create a winning coalition in a political Party, you cannot throw these people overboard soon enough. No reason to look twice.

I beleive the guy has been grabbing ass and breasts.

yup, me too...
and in all honesty been paid to do it more often than not.

I do NOT believe these women however d1.. not at this late date.
I think any "touching" by Mr. Universe, was very likely solicited at the time, hence there have been NO reports or charges filed.. to date.

At least he is apparently interested in women, not little boys and has a big happy family that loves daddy very much. We need to be careful to not give creedence to slurs that would hurt those kids, when we do not KNOW that these stories are indeed verifiable FACTS.

Why are we even having this discussion? Because Davis runs his campaigns, ever one of them, EXACTLY after this same pattern.... and so does Hillary.

We ought to believe NOTHING that is dumped on us at this late date... nothing. I cut off the news reports at the weekend before each election. It's a good policy to do it on primaries too...

keeps the water clear, and prevents muddy understanding, from blinding ones' vision.

but that is just me. imho

It's a tough choice. I've really searched my soul on it, but that's what I've come down to.

The Bustamante we know is bad enough, but I'll bet there are things about that guy that we have no idea about. I cannot stand by and watch him elected.

Sure, but I would just make a note to apply it to Arnold a little more assiduously than normal.

(Can I use that term on a family-oriented website? ;-)

McClintock Physician Says Candidate Has One-Inch Penis

True? Of course not. I just wanted to provide an example of what would have appeared on the Thursday Los Angeles Times front page if McClintock had been leading the recall replacement race on the Wednesday front page.

This smearing was inevitable. It doesn't matter who ended up being the target. Gray Davis and his operatives are human scum.
