Look at the carb count for chilli reillnoes (sp??).
Basically they are poblamo peppers stuffed with meat, cheese and salsa, then fried in egg batter.

"My only problem with the diet is the lack of good stuff to drink."

I also have trouble with the drink choices. Try this one...

Cherry Limeade (like Sonic)
Pour the following ingredients into a 16oz glass @ 2/3 full of ice:
* 12oz can Diet Sprite
* 1/4 c. unswt. cherry syrup (I use unsweetened cherry Kool-Aid powder to taste)
* 3 lime wedges (squeezed and added to drink)

Eat fruits, vegetables, beans, grains, and small amounts of fish for nutrition. All other foods are eaten for fun as they are unnecessary for a human's nutrition.

It may work for you, but when I eat like that with very little protein I gain weight rapidly, have mood swings, have great blood sugar fluctuations, have migraines, brain fog and feel like crap.

I eat the low carb way eating real meats, poultry, fish, low carb veggies, healthy fats, limited fruit, grains, starchy veggies and the occasional dessert I feel great and lose weight.

You can stick to your eating plan all you want but for those of us who need this way of eating for optimum health, we aren't going back to the food guide pyramid. Most of us who make this change in diet have more energy, improved health, weight loss and the best benefit is the food is fit for a king.

The only part of this wonderful ending, that is truly sad, unfortunately, Dr Atkins died before these results were published.

Bizet died broken and exhausted thinking that his opera Carmen was a flop. THAT was a tragegy. The passing of a wealthy and successful diet doctor is anything but.

"My guess is that oatmeal every morning is an Atkins faux pas... "

Real oatmeal (not instant) is the best breakfast food there is. A principal virtue of the fiber contained in oatmeal is that it encapsulates the starches and slows down digestion. What you get is a steady trickle of blood sugar that lasts for hours, which is why oatmeal has a reputation for sticking to your ribs. On the other extreme is something like Kelloggs Cornflakes, which digests so rapidly you might as well tilt your head back and pour cane sugar down your throat.

I have been going through some kind of plateau, as I go back and forth with a 5 pound intervals. My keto stick are dark purple so I should be losing, but this bouncing back and forth is driving me crazy. I can't go above about 20 carbs a day.

I've got to try this one, sounds wonderful. Lucky for me I'm not an atkinsinian, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy these great recipes.

Don't eat fake ice cream. A small scoop of the best ice cream you can find is good for an occasional treat. Fine vanilla with fresh ripe berries is as good as it gets. If you are dropping weight, desserts should be an infrequent special treat, not an everyday encounter with the unspeakable.

The less sweet stuff you consume, the better it should be when you do. Believe me the quality can make up for the quantity.

Most of us who make this change in diet have more energy, improved health, weight loss

I have no doubt you are losing weigh and have more energy. The reason is that you are consuming less calories than you are expending in energy and you are eating for fun, not for nutrition.

"Eat fruits, vegetables, beans, grains, and small amounts of fish for nutrition."

That may work OK as long as your need for protein remains at a constant low level. In most people the need for protein changes dramatically in response to exercise and other physical stresses. Many people shortchange their nutrition and prolong their recovery from physical stress and illness because they don't consume enough protein to meet these extraordinary demands.

Thanks. I appreciate everyone's comments esp. the sheep doo-doo thing.

Curry chicken wings tonight. Next weekend I'm making 'boerewors' or farmer sausages. I'll dig up some recipes and see what I can post.

So appreciate this! Glad to see you are back posting!
