If McClintock gets even 10% of the recall vote, I'll be surprised. I don't think a lot of the Freeper support for McC is reflected in the populace at large. A lot of the McC posters post a news release from McClintock's website, gets 200-300 posts, and their hope is instantly rejuvenated. Meanwhile, no one in the press even mentions McClintock as anything but a spoiler, because he has no support outside of his base. The independent support for McC is non-existent. That's just not going to get it done.

I am referring to McClintock's political, as opposed to ideological, rigidity.
Nonetheless, ideology--or, indeed, liberty--his, yours, or mine--is moot if the clintons retake the White House. That McClintock cannot see beyond his own parochial mindset and understand the national and, indeed, the global significance of this race is an incontrovertible disqualifier, in my view.

- The CA electoral votes are necessary for clinton redux.
- Clinton redux is sufficient to lose the war on terror.
- Thus, wresting control of CA from the clintons is a necessary precondition for victory in our war against the terrorists

Arnold is definately more qualified than McClintock, because he will be able to work with the groups to get things approved. Everyone in the capital hates McClintock.. and he has the reputation that he doens't care what others think.
You wrote: If every Republican voter in California who believes that Tom McClintock would be the best choice for governor -- if only he could win -- would vote for Tom McClintock, he would win by a landslide.
This is so patently untrue. If every Republican in CA voted for McClintock, he wouldn't win. There are more dems than pubbies in CA, so thats a wash. Arnold is getting a lot of dem and indie votes that would just stay home if he wasn't running.
And your math is old.. I think Arnold is up to 52% and McClintock is down to 15%, so Arnold has THREE TIMES THE SUPPORT.
You KNOW if it were turned around and McClintock had three times the poll numbers that you would be all over Arnold to step aside.

Please stay professional to best reflect principle; Me, not professional? Surely you jest.
I walked precincts for Tom McClintock today in the fierce heat of Fresno. We were very well received and I feel very good tonight. Schwarzenegger rode into town today on his tour bus and was greeted by his adoring fans who are dumb as dirt. Oops, there I go, not being professional, again. Shame on me.

Unless you know for certain that Ray Haynes has a personal axe to grind with McClintock...and can prove it...you shouldn't offer that information as truth. I know Ray Haynes personally.Well, I've been busy, walking precincts for Tom McClintock. EXCUUUUSE ME for not responding to you IMMEDIATELY! Sheeeeesh.
I said "APPARENTLY" Ray Haynes has a personal axe to grind with McClintock. APPARENTLY means that's what I think. Why else would a fellow legislator turn on his pal? You tell me.

I do appreciate Assemblyman Ray Haynes' stand on the 2nd Amendment and I do appreciate his endorsing Assemblyman Steve Samuelian for re-election. I have met Ray Haynes and I like him very much.
I also know that the pressure on legislators to endorse Schwarzenegger is FIERCE!!! There are a few who have not chosen to endorse Arnold and I'm very proud of them. That's all.

McClintock a spoiler? I think Schwarzenegger is the spoiler and remember Arnold has never even won a primary.
Arnold came to Fresno today on his bus. All of the adoring fans and political wannabe's and political opportunists flocked around their hero.
Meanwhile, a group of us hit the bricks walking precincts for Tom McClintock. Channel 24 TV interviewed us. Not for show.
See the difference?

I do like Tom McClintock. He is a dream candidate, and he looks good, talks good, and knows good.
But, one thing I wish he had in him was fire. A streat fighters attitude. I wish he showed for vigor and passion when he talks so that you will know by listening to him that he can inspire the people to act and not stand aside for politicians to rule over us, but we make them work for us.
As despicable as the socialist/democrat politicians in our Legislature are, they fight dirty, have pushed the remaining republicans into a tight corner and are not ashamed of it at all. I want a governor who will jerk their braying smirks off their ugly porked out faces and quit the crap. Force them to start cutting the budget and smacking their greedy greasy fingers when they try to grope the treasury box.
He's been there 20 years. He's too close to it. To immersed in the games and the bs. I want someone new to it who is not beholden to anyone but us, the citizen.

Makes good sense, but one question. Wouldn't a huge and decisive republican lead in the ballot count create less opportunity for the democrats to press for lawsuits? If it is so divided the demos will really be in for a feeding frenzy.

Your vote for Arnold is a vote for the Kennedy's to run CaliforniaStupid statements like that are the very reason McClintock looks like an idiot.
To: harpo11
But, one thing I wish he had in him was fire.Apparently, you weren't at the recall Davis rally at the Capitol. McClintock was on fire!! He had us all cheering and hooting and hollering. Bill Simon spoke as well as Darryl Issa - neither generated much enthusiasm but when McClintock got up there, the crowd went wild. Maybe the hard fought campaign is getting him down. Remember, he had just come off the campaign trail for State Controller which he lost be a slim margin - and if the CA Republican Party had supported him JUST A LITTLE, he'd have won!! Imagine if you were Tom McClintock and you had sacrificed your life to serve the people of California for over twenty years and then the CA Republican Party spits in your face and supports a guy who has never even won a primary!! It's a wonder McClintock is still out there kicking.

Yep, Arnold's entourage will be in thousand of homes in CA tonight and tommorrow through the screen and newspapers while you made it to a few in you exercise walk.... but all efforts help get people to the polls... You can contact people in many ways but the one that reaches the most is most likely to have the most impact....

When one uses the term *apparently* it's usually to state fact. Thank you for explaining further. I suppose we'll have to agree to disagree.
