I needed that yesterday when the pretend conservative talk staion in my area decided to broadcast a substitute for Rush's show. One more week and Rush will move to a real conservative station.

That's a strange comment Lib. That "other" radio station has been nothing but great to WA FReepers. I can't understand why people aren't overjoyed at having two stations, or why it is necessary to criticize one of them. Stations change, line ups do too. In the future you could very well be back at your old station. In the meantime, enjoy a larger smorgasboard. IMHO.

So what did you think Lib, of the decision to substitute Rusty for Rushs show yesterday?
I had just left meeting Kirby at the Cliff House when Rushs show was supposed to start and I thought putting Rusty on was a cheap promotional trick. I came away with the initial impression that Rushs syndicator had canceled the days show and I didnt learn the truth until I got home and checked FreeRepublic. Rusty said Rush was not on the air but I didnt hear an explanation of why.
I wrote Duckworth because I knew he was behind the decision to replace Rush yesterday. The story I received from Duckworth did not match the story Kirby was telling this morning.
Some one is not telling the truth and the way Rustys show was presented appeared to me to be a deliberate attempt to undermine Rushs local audience at a time when Rush is under attack by Liberals nationally.
Duckworth has already demonstrated a willingness to sabotage other National hosts when they move to a competing station. Also a station that devotes more than 20% of their air-time to wacko programming often presenting one-sided unanswered liberal diatribes attacking our President hardly qualifies as Conservative.

I didn't get to listen to all of Rusty's show. I thought first that he was taking over that day - a week early, and perhaps Rush wasn't broadcasting - it was, truthfully a bit confusing. I believe I heard Rusty say he was local though. After all, he will be the host. If Rush has a replay on, why not let Rusty speak that day - he will be the replacement next week. Many hosts tell an audience during one show to stay tuned for the one coming up and what the stories will be. It helps keep listeners tuned in. John said yesterday, when stations know that a host won't be returning they sometimes take them off the air immediately. (An example of this was Rusty Humphries... KTTH took him right off the air when they learned he was going to move over to KVI - then they filled in with an extra hour of Medved.)But KVI knows that we love Rush and kept him on. After the little switcheroo of stations, I think they have a right to fight for their survuval and should do so.
I vehemently disagree with your assessment of KVI puttng down Rush. Kirby spent the morning the day before talking about how Rush was a personal friend of the station and that he personally would do all he could to help him. Good grief, KVI is not going to have Rush in a day or two and needs to do everything it can to promote and go seemleesly to the new host.
I was less impressed with Micheal Medved starting an on-air war yesterday over this, putting down KVI and Rusty. I know he has a grudge, KVI management treated him very poorly, but the on air show about KVI didn't impress me. Even Michael still is friends with KVI hosts, why can't WE do the same?
Don't fool yourself, BOTH these two stations are playing hardball all the way up to the syndicators. My main point is that WE are benifitting from having two stations. Let them battle it out...and remember to separate your disagreement with station management from your relationship with the hosts. I think you have valid reasons to not like the lates moves from either station, but why ruin a relationship with Kirby and John who have announced our FReeps and been allies? There is no reason we should not keep our old ally and gain a new one as well. Busines is rough and they both need to fight hard to stay in business. And don't be so thin-skinned about President Bush. Though I hate it when people like Savage (KTTH I remind you) attack our President, he also does a wonderful job of denouncing democrats, and bringing people to conservatism and even voting for Republicans. Some of those new listeners would never listen to strictly "republican" shows, but they understand Savage. There is room for lots of conservatives - we don't need to lessen the number. what's good for you might not be someone else's taste. Just don't throw away allies, we have too few of them. Be strategic and keep your head about you.
To: Libertina
You hit on part of it in that I will never forgive Duckworth and the rest of KVI Management for the way they treated Medved. George Nooray and his wacko program are a poor imitation of Art Bell and he seems unable or unwilling to interfere with his guests rants. I cant go to sleep with his show so I dont wake up to Kirby until I switch Stations again. Coast to Coast does not fit with a station that tries to bill itself as conservative talk radio.
As for Carlson I quit listening to him when he replaced Weissbach. Now I listen to Dick Stabb on 820 KGNW Christian Talk from 4:00 to 7:00. He explores some politics and some religion but from a different perspective than you find on most talk radio. KGNW is part of the Salem Radio Network, Medveds syndicator. SRN has the best National News even better than Fox radio news and without the biased hatchet jobs of ABC (Anti Bush Coalition) news.
I like Kirby but I am not sure that I can trust him any longer. When I saw him Thursday morning at the Cliff House I am sure he didnt yet know that Rushs show was going to be preempted. By Friday he was claiming that the decision to preempt Rush was part of a long-standing policy that had been planned well ahead of time even though that directly contradicts what Duckworth told me in his e-mail and what Rusty said on the air.
I tuned into KVI at nine on Thursday in order to hear Rush and get a reassurance that the Liberals were not going to win in their attempts to destroy Rush. Rustys show just contributed to the confusion and in my opinion was designed to capitalize on Rushs problems and create the impression that Rushs show might be falling apart. If as I thought at the time Rushs syndicator had pulled his Thursday show it would have been indicative that Rush had serious and possibly insurmountable problems. Under normal circumstances I would understand the attempt to promote Rusty but to in my opinion at the last minute after the Rush pill story broke, to pile on and kick Rush when he was down hurt all of conservative talk radio.
Rusty was canned from KTTH when he said on KTTH air that he was looking forward to working with Kirby and the rest of the staff in Seattle. No station would tolerate a host who promotes the competition while on the air.
At times I like to tune into David Boaz instead of listening to all of Rush and I planned to give Rusty the same opportunity. Now however I plan to completely boycott all of Rustys show because of his participation in what in my opinion was an orchestrated scam. If Rusty had come out and been very clear in what was actually going on Thursday I would have still been upset to miss Rushs show but I wouldnt have held it against Rusty.

We thought he was rehabbing and here all along he was meeting with apparently the same space aliens that World News Daily photographed meeting Arnold and helping him get elected. I thought Rush couldn't take the cut in pay, but maybe if he had that probing thing done to him that Art Bell has talked about, he was convinced to drop his radio show and run for office. I'd run for office too if the aliens came after me with that probe.
