I appreciate that, but I'm not convinced that folks who care enough to take the time to go to the pools to vote no, are going to take a pass on picking a replacement. Democrats are as pashionate about their concerns as we are. They're not going to faciliate republicans gaining office.

Don't forget that in local recalls, there's an historic precedent for a 15% dropoff between the number of people who vote in the first part and those who vote in the second part.

You should also take a look at the leftist OC weekly's piece on "The Progressive Case for Governor McClintock."

Their argument is similar to the Arnold case among Republicans--he's not with us on the social issues, but he would return the state to fiscal sanity. People say he can't win Democratic votes, but I think that's very much not the case. A lot of leftists truly admire and will support a principled conservative.
