According to a Jewish magazine, a young Arnold Schwarzenegger helped to disrupt a march of Neo-Nazis in his Austrian homeland.
As the magazine "NU" reported in its September issue, the 17-year-old Schwarzenegger helped anti-fascists heckle a demonstration of Neonazis.
The budding bodybuilder, along with other athletes, protested against the right-wingers in the city of Graz, 80-year-old Alfred Gerstl told the magazine. Gerstl, previously an active supporter of conservatives in Austria, feels he knows Schwarzenegger based on characteristic statements from that time, when Schwarzenegger was a friend of Gerstls son Karl.

Translation is my own. Follow the link if you wish to see this short article in the original German.
Obviously, if Gerstl is telling the truth, this devastates those on the left, and an unfortunate few of the more adamant and bitter McClintock supporters, who gleefully wish to tar Arnold as a Nazi sympathizer.
My only caveat is that this is all according to one guy who appears to like Arnold and probably has reason to feel defensive on Arnold's behalf as a fellow Austrian getting pounded with Nazi allegations. Grain of salt, therefore.

Yeah, but he was a young man back then. He has changed. We aren't supposed to pay attention to the things he did when he was young right? Or are we?

I'm sure Arnold will issue a statement that he has no recollection of that, since he can't recall more recent events.

He obviously only did this to make him look good in a future run for office. Tell me you're being tongue in cheek. Because if not, how can you square his wild 1970s behavior with (supposedly) doing something in 1964 "only to make himself look good in a future run for office"? Seems to me one of the more believable things Arnold's said is that he did not conduct himself with an eye to political respectability!
Besides, do you have any evidence, or do you just hate Arnold out of bitterness as to McClintock?
Me, I don't even know if it happened, as you'll notice when you read my initial post. Arnold for one has never said that it DID happen .. and one must wonder why he doesn't, if it did.

I think Arnold was very prepared for the onslaught by liberals before he made his decision to run. Apparently we need more strong candidates like him to win elections. He is not afraid to confront every allegation and if they are true apologize or admit it to the public. Bush (another strong candidate) did the same thing with the DWI episode that the liberals conveniently brought up just before election day. Bush was right about Arnold - he said he would make a good governor. The Democreeps are having a good week but If I were them I wouldn't count my chickens!

How does one confuse the "National SOCIALIST Worker's Party of Garmany" with a right wing group?
To: ElkGroveDan
Don't expect consistency on this issue if there's no consistency on the sex issue from Clinton to Arnold.

Isn't Nazism extreme left-wing?
NAZI stands for National Socialists Party

You will not see this story in the LA Times. Guaranteed.

The Nazis were National SOCIALISTS.
