Market is up over 140 already. Wonder if the confidence of WMD vindication is a factor. I really think that the hell that was unleashed by the libs this week was to stave off the truth of this. The press is flat-out lying about the Kay report and other matters.

IG,
I have read articles here on FR that detail these atrocities, but it was right after the breakthrough into Baghdad. I can't remember the titles now. Defectors have also reported such things, but did not have the same believability as hearing it from Bernie Kerick's mouth.
A Google search might produce articles about these acts: feeding men into chippers, eaten alive by dogs, pouring acid into eyes and mouths....on and on.

Well, the market shouldn't get cocky. In a way the fact that they're finding the stuff is the bad news. It means there was stuff to find, and we're going to have to track down and get rid of every last bit of it. Sigh.

I'd say the most important quote was this (now featured by the AP):
"But these findings already make clear that Saddam Hussein actively deceived the international community, that Saddam Hussein, was in clear violation of United Nations Security Council resolution 1441 and that Saddam Hussein was a danger to the world."
Basically, President Bush asserted that they've found clear evidence of clandestine WMD programs which were in violation of UN resolutions. It's not entirely clear what the programs are, but my inference is that they've found some kind of manufacturing facilities and at the least precursor agents. That's as much as I've been able to figure. He wasn't very detailed at all, but he was stalwartly confident.
I think we'll have a clearer idea after David Kay's press appearances later today.

Saddam demonstrated that he had WMD when he gassed the Kurds!
As much as I hate to endorse a Clinton Administration appointee, I think arms policy
analyst Kenneth Pollack has done the best job of developing the most likely Saddam's
WMD scenario.
Pollack thinks Saddam wisely decided to just keep a capability-based plan --
building pharmceutical plants that could rapidly be reconfigured to make chem/bio WMD
thus saving him the embarassment of inspectors finding actual chem/bio WMD and the
time/cost of building a stockpile of chem/bio WMD that would be slowly degrading all the time anyway.
And Pollack said that even in the months leading up to Operation Iraqi Freedom,
international weapons meetings (China, Russia, France, etc.) all concluded that
Saddam had WMDs...the only question was what to do about Saddam and his toys.
But beyond all this...does anybody really not rejoice at the idea that Uday and
Quasy won't be in charge of even conventional weapons...or the unconventional ones
(tigers, lions and dogs in Uday's case) unleased even on Iraqi citizens?
G-d Save The Planet if Uday had come to power with a couple of tons of anthrax and
other chem/bio WMD.

Saddam demonstrated that he had WMD when he gassed the Kurds! Absolutely correct! I KNOW he has WMDs, 'cause he's used them. Duh. This is such a puffed up story, like just about everything else the media does these days.
To: AntiGuv
Oh, I think this could be part of the market's thinking. It's certainly been influenced by stranger things. I wouldn't even be surprised if chicken entrails figure into the mix occasionally.

What if there was another attack? The American press and the majority of voters would blame Bush for the failing of homeland security. Most voters forget what they had for dinner the night before!

No, really, it's definitely not... The futures skyrocketed after the payrolls report and were actually correcting downward throughout and following GWB's remarks.. The session's behavior doesn't indicate anything beyond what the futures market indicated....
