So this is the October surprise? The Los Angeles Times headline that Arnold Schwarzenegger groped and humiliated women?
None of the six women interviewed by The Times filed legal charges. Four of the six were quoted anonymously. Of the two who were named, one, a British television hostess, had told her story to Premiere magazine years ago, and it has been widely known and largely ignored. The other recounts an alleged incident of fondling at Gold's Gym nearly 30 years ago.

I had to go to the grocery store this morning (still half asleep). While I was there, it hit me. Yesterday was the political equivalent of "shock and awe", thrown at us by the Democrats and their media cohorts.
Yet today, everything is still standing.
Maybe there will be some long term adverse effects, but the feeling that came over me was one of "they screwed up". They overplayed their hand. It was so over-the-top as to probably turn people off to what they were doing.
It seems Susan Estrich even noticed:
What this story accomplishes is less an attack on Schwarzenegger than a smear on the press. It reaffirms everything that's wrong with the political process.

can you say "Smear"? I think you can. I just wonder why people aren't.

Susan is one liberal I genuinely respect. She is an avowed liberal but she is intellectually honest.

Amazing the Los Angeles Times printed this article in its op-ed page! Susan Estrich is a liberal Democrat but she's a fair and and honest one and that's rare in California politics. She emphasizes no crime was committed and to qualify as sexual harrassment you have to have a pervasive and ongoing pattern of harrassment at the workplace or a threat or a promise of a job promotion or demotion in exchange for sexual services. None of Arnold's alleged victims accused him of committing a crime of being a sexual harrasser. Estrich goes further to say its an assault on fair politics to smear someone in the press days before voters go to the polls. And after she credits Arnold for having apologized for having behaved badly, she says the Times should apologize to Arnold for its hatchet job on him. I don't agree with Estrich's views most of the time but my respect for her as a human being has measurably increased. Its refreshing when you find a Democrat who loathes what Bill Clinton has done to her party. Estrich is the complete opposite of the Bob Muholland and Chris Lehaine types who run our nation's oldest political party today.

Test your assertion about Susan against her performance during Clinton's impeachment. Her comments today are designed buttress her performance back then when she was screeching that it was all about sex when, in fact, Clinton's problems were about perjury.

If that's true she's at least consistent. The rest of the Democrats are hypocrites.

This time the Dims may just break their pick. Arnold isn't going to sit still and take it. He knew the slime was coming and appears to be meeting it head on.
Looks like it's going to work.
This is a real hit piece on the LATimes by Estrich.

What this story accomplishes is less an attack on Schwarzenegger than a smear on the press. It reaffirms everything that's wrong with the political process.
What's wrong with the political process is that
- journalists are in de facto collusion to define socialism as "moderate"--and conservatism as "extreme."
- journalists are given de facto "public servant" status, including the right to wage (leftist) politics over the air

Amazing the Los Angeles Times printed this article in its op-ed page! They weren't going to. They told her they needed to find someone to rebut her first. But she made a big stink. :)
