AN DIEGO (AP) -- Gubernatorial front-runner Arnold Schwarzenegger acknowledged that he has "behaved badly" to women and offered an apology Thursday.
Schwarzenegger's remarks, as he kicked off a four-day bus tour of the state in the final days of the recall campaign, came after a Los Angeles Times story published Thursday in which six women accused him of sexually harassing and groping them.

If anyone ever wondered "How can these women defend Clinton?", these female freepers have given us the answer with their defense of Arnold.

If real sexual harassment occurred in this day of ultra sensitivity, why were there no charges filed? Can you imagine the bundle of money a woman could receive from a wealthy man like Arnold? If that doesn't send up the red flags, we are surrounded by too many ostriches. You've obviously done a great deal of soul searching since August 27, 2000 (Post #4).

As usual, Number 6 gets it.
No, no. I'm Section9. "Prisoner6" is Number 6.
You, by the way, are the New Number 2. Who is Number 1? You are, Number 6.

I will not allow you centrists to hijack the Republican Party and take it down the road of irrelevence. I will work in opposiiton to your efforts in that regard. I'm sure Jim Robinson is watching events unfold on FR with a keen eye.
Backing a liberal candidate, isn't a quality that any conservative should support. In fact, no true blue Republican with party convictions, should be supporting a liberal candidate for office, under any circumstance.
What you and your RINO friends have been doing on FR over the last two months, has been another systematic effort to turn FR into a RINOwing of the Republican Party. You tried this in the past and were successful in purging many of the fringe extremist members off of FR. Frankly, I was happy to see most of them go. Now, you're coming after more traditional conservatives, like me. I predicted this would happen. So be it. You'll get the fight of your life.
Conservatism will triumph over liberalism and RINOism every time. So bring it on. The GOP remains the party of Lincoln and Reagan, not Schwarznegger and Bloomberg.

In all the cases that you mentioned -- Jones, Lewinsky, Willey, Broderick -- the individuals were available for further interview. Their names were public. Whether or not you have heard of them does not effect their status of being anonymous. Further, none of them released their information the Thursday before an election.
First, we generally understand "anonymous" in the context of public knowledge. That was true of the four women named above, yet their charges were no less true. Four of the six women in the L.A. Times article are still anonymous, yet that has no bearing on the veracity of their stories. Further, Schwarzenegger himself has said of their stories (see post #308 above)... "A lot of those that you see in the stories is not true, but at the same time, I have to tell you that I always say, that wherever there is smoke, there is fire" You said the stories were falsehoods because of timing and anonymity. Schwarzenegger says "wherever there is smoke, there is fire." Should I believe you, or him?

Easy, Davis is losing the Recall. The LA Times Editorial Board has already denounced the Recall and are angry the voters aren't listening to their phony polls, slanted news reports or outright distortions. So 5 days prior to the election, they re-dump this old story.
For his part, Arnold is being forthright, not sending his wife out to claim a Vast Left Wing Conspiracy, and even apologized. Sort of like GW Bush acknowledging the DUI that the Democrats dumped about 5 days before the 2000 election.
Anyone who examines ALL the claims realize they pale in comparison to Clinton's escapades, yet the LA Times puts this on the front page. Unlike Clinton's story, there are no rape charges, no forced sex, no jobs in return for sex, no lying under oath. etc. When did the Times print the Broaddrick story at all? not to mention their front page? Never.
These allegations are old, the Times reporters had them for months if not years, yet they chose today. The motives are pretty clear. And oh yes, 4 women refuse to reveal their name. One that did has already had her story refuted by eye witnesses to the supposed "event".

I have to laugh when I see so many card-carrying, sainted, self-proclaimed sterling conservatives totally swept into the mindset of every good and faithful liberal.
I'm only 53 years old and I can remember the days when whistling and winking were just men, being men. Today it is sexual harassment.
That's why the question needs to be answered. What exactly did he do, since a wrong look can be deemed "offensive" in today's climate?
As of yet, I've only heard allegations by women who never did anything about these incidents and Arnold apologizing for anything that may have offended anyone.

I read someplace on the web today that the LA Times was holding a story aabout Gray's verbal and physical abuse of staff. Anyone here know anything about that?
Also, do you have a source for the eyewitness refuting the event re: Arnold?
To: Artist
OK, I'll play.
My daughter is a toughy, the way she's been taught.
My son's a toughy too, who laughs at peer pressure.
They're both voting for Arnold, by the way.
He's not a winner because of what you claim he's
gotten by with.
He's a winner because he wants to defeat what Gray Davis
has gotten by with.

Uh.....that's a report of allegations. What did Arnold say he did?
He didn't specify with regard to the allegations. He said that not everything in the stories was true, but that "wherever there is smoke, there is fire." That looks like a partial admission to me.

You are one very desperate person, aren't you?
Is Arnold accused of rape?
To: republicanwizard
No mercy from me.
None of the accusers wanted anyone to know who they were for fear of "losing their jobs", "hurting their husbands", etc., etc.
Is it possible to be more hypocritical ????
At least he can grope something other than himself which may be a testimony for Davis among others.

"I didn't call YOU a nutcase, RM." It did appear as if you were labeling McClintock supporters as "nutjobs" for holding tight to conservative principles, but that's beside the larger point about how skewed from conservatism the California GOP has become. It's troubling that Arnold and his supporters seem so ready to jettison conservatives altogether...a Republican Party without a solidly conservative base is not a Party with which I would wish to be affiliated!!
As for you, RM, just be glad that you don't haveta worry about living in a State wherein the most conservative gubernatorial candidate who is electable is a moderate/liberal like Arnold. Let's just hope his sort of politics doesn't sink into the national party structure!!

I read someplace on the web today that the LA Times was holding a story aabout Gray's verbal and physical abuse of staff. Anyone here know anything about that? A listener called in to Al Rantel's show about this. Supposedly goes back to 1998, and the L.A. Times has been sitting on it. Shoving around women staffers, verbally abusive, that kind of stuff.
To: Reagan Man
If I misread your previous statements, I appologize.
I am just so sick and tired of all of the infighting, and now all of the media slander this week its pathetic.
All I know is that if I was in California (glad I'm not) this week, and this bs came out the way it did, I would be tempted to vote for Arnold just out of spite.
To: Reagan Man
Lincoln and Reagan didn't sit in closed door sessions with contributors and favor their money with ZERO taxes on their income. McClintock did do that (along with Davis and Bustamante).
Not something to be proud of, right? Not exactly Conservative Principles, right?
In any event, Indian Casinos pay no state taxes because of McClintock, Davis, and Bustamante (and the rest of the Democrat establisment). Perhaps we shouldn't require them to pay 25% of earnings like other states, but ZERO is an outrageous scam.
Oh yeah, who's funding those radio ads for Bruce Hershonson? Yep, the Indian Casinos. Same folks backing Bustamante. To know a man, one looks at his supporters.
If you really want a PERFECT candidate, you're not going to find one. Its time to choose between Bustamante or Arnold -- Tom McClintock cannot go from 15% to 40%. But he can turn the Governors office over to Cruz. Just ask the Indian Casinos.
