AN DIEGO (AP) -- Gubernatorial front-runner Arnold Schwarzenegger acknowledged that he has "behaved badly" to women and offered an apology Thursday.

Schwarzenegger's remarks, as he kicked off a four-day bus tour of the state in the final days of the recall campaign, came after a Los Angeles Times story published Thursday in which six women accused him of sexually harassing and groping them.

Well, why deny a story that hadn't yet broken. At least he owned up to it, and didn't argue over the meaning of the word "is". I suspect he has enough good will with the voters that most will blow this off as the final slimey action of a desperate Gray Davis.

Look, I'm here to tell you, this scam won't work. Arnold was smart to telegraph to voters that this thing should have been expected.

Davis was a fool. He should have used this back in late September when Bustamante and he had a fighting chance. Now Arnie is too far ahead for this to matter.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

What exactly did he do?

Are you parsing sentences? By "he", do you mean Arnold Schwarzeneggar, candidate for governor of the State of California?

I just want to be sure.

"Agreed. Its an transparent ploy he shouldn't have dignified with an admission. "

So he should have been like Clinton and denied everything?

Admitting to it and apologizing was the right thing to do regardless of whether it was the political thing to do. However the bigger question is, "Is this the result of a new found integrity that has developed since those days? Or is California electing a Clintonesque womanizer who doesn't have either a firm or correct set of values."

I hope it's the former.

Dear R-man, many of us Rhinos feel that we are conservatives, and recognize that there are different shades of conservatism. Thanks for your tolerance.

1. Supports abortion.
2. Supports the ban on assault weapons.
3. Won't say he won't raise taxes.
4. Has no experience.
5. Is a LIBERAL!

1. Abortion is a federal, not a state issue, and he DOES oppose partial-birth abortion.
2. Assault weapons are already banned in California.
3. He has said he won't raise taxes, and there's every reason to believe him since his pledge has gotten more emphatic in the past couple of weeks.
4.Ronald Reagan didn't have any experience either. And Gray Davis is the most experienced person to ever be Governor.
5. According to his comments at the state GOP convention, Arnold is clearly a conservative.

I know you know all of this, but I felt obliged to respond, even though your comments have become really tiresome.

"Yes, I do. And so does he."

So, all's forgiven and you want to elect Arnold to a position of great power in the Republican party?

Well, I for one can read. One of the women, who identified herself by the way, said that he came up behind her, put his hand up her shirt and grabbed her breast. She was a married black woman waiting for her husband--one of Arnold's colleagues. How playful! Ugh...

And no, I haven't gone to hell yet, as you directed me to do last night...

Thanks coming such a conservative as yourself your admonishment means so much. It makes my so happy to see you come display such principals....

Now for RINOs that is the ones who aren't in or support the party and take their ball somewhere else. When do you think you can get on with it and get moved?

Oct. 7, Schwarzenegger elected Governor of CA.

No. I think he should have said "no comment". If "most of the article was untrue" as he stated, then not dignifying it would have been the best course of action.

Had the women wanted to press charges, they could have and should have. If he was guilty of something, it would have come out. What next? Is he going to admit to changing someone's premium coffee with Folger's Crystals?

This "I'm not perfect" act is getting to be a little to much. He did what he did. His victims (if there were any) had their chance to set things right when it happened.

Vague admissions of non-specified actions are neither noble or helpful. If he wants to apologize to specific people for specific actions ... that's one thing. But blanket apologies to "whoever I may have offended" probably doesn't console anyone either.

The way he went about this was completely lose/lose, IMHO.

No, he shouldn't lie.

I don't plan on voting for AS. But having seen this crap pulled on many other republicans on election eve in this state I'm pining for just one to tell the local press to shove their allegations. No one is going to change their vote based on some movie set horseplay - if thats indeed all there is to this.

do you believe in your heart that Ronald Reagan would be within 10 miles of a lecturn with Ah-nold after his confession? the clinton example is still the most informative. clinton made the same mea culpa on a national tv interview with 60minutes at half time of the superbowl. did we conservatives let him off the hook for that? no.. not any of us... why the double standard.. it is time for principled conservatives to stand up and take charge....
