The President had a very busy day. He spoke at a signing ceremony for the first Homeland Security funding bill (for 2004); met with White House General Counsel Alberto R. Gonzales, Chief of Staff Andrew Card, and Homeland Security Advisor John Gordon; Pakistan's Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali, who expressed cooperation in the the war on terrorism and a mutual desire to deepen bilateral relations; and NASA administrators, and space crew, the latter being members of the International Space Station crew 6.
He met with Colombia's President Alvaro Uribe in the Oval Office to discuss security issues, and also toured a Davenport, Iowa, Sears manufacturing plant that makes farm equipment seats.
Laura Bush gave television and press interviews; spoke at a book festival organized by Mrs. Putin that was modeled on Mrs. Bush's book fairs in the US; and went to the Bolshoi Theater with Mrs. Putin, Mrs. Kocharian of Armenia, and Mrs. Pyruanov of Bulgaria, to see Don Quixote.

Gretchen, thanks for this early Dose. It is always so relaxing to look at pictures of President Bush, and especially today while all this Wilson buzz is going on.
Has anyone else noticed that when Laura is with Bella Kocharian of Armenia, Lyudmila Putin of Russia, and Zorka Pyruanov of Bulgaria that Zorka seems to always be very close to Laura.

that Zorka seems to always be very close to Laura. YES! I commented to a friend about that - I wonder if she speaks English? A common language always helps break down barriers, but there is something in Laura that this other first lady is very drawn to. I like it.

Laura Bush speaks at Russia's book festival in Moscow, Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2001. Mrs. Bush is bringing some of the most popular American creators of books for young people to Russia's book festival.
Mrs. Bush and Marc Brown, known for his Arthur the aardvark illustrations, seen in the background, who is also taking part in the festival, held a drawing session with Russian second-graders, followed by a question-and-answer session.

For those who grew up during the subzero's of the Cold War, is this difficult to absorb?

Yes, the suit has gold piping--and I think the "base" color may a dark green.

can't find article DrDeb promised to write about last night's fund raiser in Ohio? Has it come in yet. I didn't check the end of last night's Dose - maybe it will be on tonight's, if it wasn't on Sept. 30th's?
Miss your recipes Gretchen
Please say which type of recipes? I can post more if I know what your interests are.
