The ambassador, Joseph Wilson, said he plans to give the names of the reporters to the FBI, which is conducting a full-blown investigation of the possible leak. "I will be revealing the names of everybody who called me and cited White House sources or cited people specifically," Wilson said in an interview with Nightline's Ted Koppel.

Oct. 1 The former ambassador who accused the White House of leaking the identity of his CIA officer wife to the press says Washington reporters told him that senior White House adviser Karl Rove said his wife was "fair game." Why should we believe anything that Wilson says? He's already admitting to lying that he had proof that Rove orchestrated the leak.
You will see this one passed back and forth in the press and then dropped, just as the Washington ComPost altered their story that ran Sunday, changing the level of the unnamed source.

The most damning statements against Karl Rove I've read yet. See my post #4 - consider the source. This will probably be bandied about and then downplayed later.

He went public with this and now he wants to pull back when it comes time to produce the evidence.

Are you with the Bureau?Nah, just waiting for something other than unnamed sources or unnamed reports to put some hard information out. Wilson has already admitted both lying and having a political agenda - he is hardly a reliable source to date.

Once Novak has already published her name, why would she not be fair game?

This is getting more and more obsurd. Didn't he just backoff his previous statements about Rove's involvement (or lack of) in this mess? I'm so confused. Could someone post a minute by minute timeline of this?!
To: AppyPappy
I must've misread the article. I thought it said he was going to give the names to the FBI.
Wait. That is what it said.
Why publish them, when all that does is allow everyone to run for cover and craft a response?

Wilson maintains that Washington reporters told him they spoke with Rove on the telephone after the Novak column came out. Even if true, and its a BIG 'if' considering Wilson's lies to date, after Novak's column came out Wilson's wife was fair game.

""I will be revealing the names of everybody " Is there a specific reason why the reporters and democrats aren't falling all over themselves to call this "McCarthyesque?"
To: eureka!
Rove is more the target here than W, IMHO... There's no question. Rove is OBVIOUSLY the target.

Why make a big deal of it publically THEN not release the evidence to the public? How do we know he is going to turn anything over to the FBI? What evidence does he have? It sounds to me like he is ducking for cover now that his hand is called.

I'm waiting for the inevitable updates:
1) "I guess the term used was not actually 'fair game', I suppose I got carried away when I indicated that term was used"
2) "I guess it wasn't Karl Rove who told me this, it was in fact a reporter for the Washington Post who gave me this information. But I have no doubt that Rove was involved.
