HOW MUCH DID THE CIA PAY WILSON TO GO TO NIGER?
10/01/03 | Prognostigaator

Was Ambassador Wilson's motivation to go to Niger a magnaminous offer to -

"I spent the next eight days drinking sweet mint tea and meeting with dozens of people: current government officials, former government officials, people associated with the country's uranium business."

Or was his patriotism prompted by the all expenses paid trip and the hefty 'fee' from the CIA slush fund?

Did Valerie Thane use any 'vigorish' to get her husband that plush assignment?

There are 'discretionary' funds that the CIA has which can be used for many clandestine and information seeking purposes which need not be specifically revealed or accounted for.

Just how much was Wilson paid to get someone at the CIA counterproliferation section upset enough to blow Valerie Thanes cover and her connection to getting her husband selected for that assignment?

Wilson can claim 'just expenses' and get away with it because the alleged fee given him would never be revealed...

You think this is coming from the CIA?

How much he was paid is a good question

Excellent questions.

I have another one.

Did he sign the usual secrecy forms one normally signs with the farm before and after they do a trip like this?

Those forms are very specific about not disclosing:

Where you went?
Who you saw?
What you discussed.

I wonder if Wilson killed any of our agents in Niger with his loose lips?

Then did the loose lips of the lunatic lefty mediots kill anyone?

Wilson and his buddies in bed with him are far more dangerous to our sources than anyone else on this planet.

Who is Valerie Thane? The wife of Mr. Wilson is the former (maiden name) Valerie Plame, or at least that's what's been reported in the press. Inquiring minds want to know.

True the VP's office has said that Cheney didn't ask for the mission but he did meet with the CIA on various occasions to discuss issues related to Iraq and WMD. I grant you that the letter from Reps Kucinich, Maloney and Sanders (Marxists all) to Cheney in which they claimed that he had actually requested the Wilson trip, isn't much to go by. But only the Veep himself, and not his staff, can put this subject to bed.

Finally, nothing that has been posted absolves Tenet from some truly stupid administrative mismanagment that has brought discredit on the administration.

"After consulting with the State Department's African Affairs Bureau (and through it with Barbro Owens-Kirkpatrick, the United States ambassador to Niger), I agreed to make the trip. The mission I undertook was discreet but by no means secret. While the C.I.A. paid my expenses (my time was offered pro bono), I made it abundantly clear to everyone I met that I was acting on behalf of the United States government. "

Read- "I offered pro bono but they paid me anyway. I can't disclose how much, and neither will they."

The Vanity Fair article lets slip that he was negotiating a deal with the Niger government for a concern wanting to open a gold mine there...

At the same time???
