[history]
October 1, 2003 -- A Virginia man who was charged with performing a sex act in St. Patrick's Cathedral died last week, his lawyer said yesterday. The death of Brian Florence, 38, was disclosed on the same day he and girlfriend, Loretta Lynn Harper, were expected to plead guilty to disorderly-conduct charges stemming from the Aug. 16, 2002, sex stunt that was broadcast live on radio on WNEW-FM's now-canceled "Opie and Anthony Show." "I brought [them] into St. Patrick's Cathedral so that they could engage in the conduct I would broadcast over the air, via cellular telephone.

Its not every day you hear someone drop dead after profaning a holy place. That's what dissing the sacred gets you.

"Mr. Florence died Thursday of heart failure," said the couple's lawyer, Maranda Fritz. "It was very sudden."Sudden heart failure at 38? What could cause that, aside from a deliberate drug overdose suicide?

Too much hot and heavy sex? I wonder if he croaked as he climaxed with his partner in bed.

Re early heart attack. . .vs. 'other'. . .
"He refused to speak to reporters afterwards, and changed direction several times in a bid to evade photographers and TV cameras, finally taking off like a bat out of hell across a nearby park."
The timeline is very confusing in this article; but I am guessing that the above might be relevant to his 'heart attack'. Running, it seems, was not his habit of exercise.

Remember too that this was sponsored by Sam Adams Brewery, with the head of Sams giggling on air while this was going on.Might be kinda funny if someone had sex at the wake and broadcast it on radio......in a respectful way of course.

I think it was Mercurio, the guy who broadcast all this, who ran from the reporters.
Florence was the jerk who desecrated the church with his whore and subsequently suffered the heart attack.

Yep. You have it right. The article is somewhat out of order.

H'mmm. 38 and dead of a heart attack after desecrating the Lord's Cathedral? I imagine he's got some 'splainin' to do to St. Peter.

Much as I used to like Sam Adams Boston Lager, I haven't purchased a bottle since I found out they sponsored this form of "entertainment." I sent them an email about my feelings on the matter and never received a reply.

Death certificate, my a$$. Bring his head into court so I can see for myself.

I haven't purchased Sam Adams beer since. I did receive a reply, but it was the typical corporate form letter "non-apology" apology.
I must admit I haven't heard the owner, Jim Koch, at all since he made the unfortunate choice (repeatedly) to sponsor and appear on the "Sex for Sam" contests.

Condolences to the man's family, who probably didn't deserve having such a dolt for a relative.

An undetected congenital defect might be the cause.

Sudden heart failure at 38? What could cause that, aside from a deliberate drug overdose suicide? It would have to have been a birth defect of some sort. According to my cardiologist, a heart just doesn't go bad and fail at that young age. It had to be a problem he has had all of his life, whether or not he knew about it.
