Tom McClintock continues his walk toward the California political graveyard. It is an unstoppable walk, almost suicidal in its dedication.
McClintock is my first choice as governor. He would make a great governor. Ronald Reagan would also make a great governor. Unfortunately, those of us who live in the real world of California politics, recognize that neither McClintock, the Gipper, nor the pornstar will be the next governor of California. We recognize that politics is the art of the possible. Although Bruce Herschenson's recent commercials are well done, they are no more than wishful thinking. I've met Bruce. He would have been a great senator, and he came very close.
So, what will happen to McClintock? Unfortunately, he has painted himself into a corner. He has said over and over that he will not drop out. If he drops out now, he will be seen as a liar. If he doesn't drop out and Bustamante is handed the governorship, he will never be forgiven by Republicans. He will be a political dead man walking. Even if Arnold pulls it out in a close 3-man race, the GOP has been hoping for a Terminator mandate. Such would make it easier for him to deal with the runaway RATS who have been destroying our state.
Yes, McClintock is principled. Yes, Arnold only supports some of my own agenda. But Bustamante supports none of my agenda. I guess I'll take someone with whom I have 70% agreement and can win, rather than someone with whom I have 95% agreement who cannot win. Face it, McClintock Kool-Aid drinkers -- he is a great man but he cannot win. Standing on principles is noble, however, if you get no place at the table, all it does it make you feel good that you did the right thing. With a RINO in power, at least we have some chance of influencing policy. Maybe we can even change his mind on some issues. We will never have any influence over the Mecha Man. He will continue to destroy our state.
Tom McClintock is self-terminating. May his political career rest in peace.

YOu mean like they have been for the past 20 years in California?

It takes a REAL conservative to rebuild the GOP in California. McClintock would beat Bustamante easily in a two-man race.
Instead, too many have put their faith in trust in a liberal Republican that has no core beliefs and may well be that same type of sexual deviant Bill Clinton was.
To: Ol' Sparky
Oh, you mean like Simon beat Davis? Or any "REAL" republican has won state wide in a decade? You are in la la land... one on one, McClintock would have been gone long ago...
In cali politics today, reality is guy like McClintock can't win statewide... like it or not.. he's already tried many times and failed.

The person whose friend claimed that Big A attempted to rape her is apparently in the entertainment industry, which obviously brings him into contact with people who have knowledge and experience with others in that field. I was a part of that scene for awhile myself, and you find out many "interesting" details about celebrities --from people you work with & from first hand experience.
I think the post was deleted because it was an unsubstantiated claim that could be slanderous. But supposing that from this person's perspective, and his friend's, this was not a "supposed", but an actual act. If it was an actual act, then why shouldn't this girl (or her friend) be allowed to relay the information?
How many girls have dealt with a guy who tries to force sex on her? (Many) How many officially report the incident? (Very few, unless there was injury or actual rape). But how many tell their friends about it?......
My problem with the way you were treating this person was that you seemed more offended and disgusted by the people who expose Schwarzenegger's sexually deviant behavior, than yu are over the fact that Arnold has done some pretty disreputable and "shameful" things, himself.
As I asked you before, How can you say the poster lacks a sense of "common decency", without questioning the "decency" of the candidate? And hence, because this is so similar to the Clinton/Jones/Lewinsky issues, I asked you what your stance was on Clinton's impeachment. I think you are smart enough to be able to make that intellectual leap without my having to write 2 more pages...
Perhaps I stretched in assuming you had double standards. But from all that you wrote, that is how it appeared to me.

So he says. I've seen people who post here for years and convince people they are something they definitely are not.
The total lack of judgment and the risk he took to make the statement tells me he is very possibly nothing he says he is.
But you just go right ahead and buy everything you see someone post. You folks are a hoot.

McClintock is an INFINITELY more experienced and articulate politician than Simon, one that that the Gallup indicates has 19% lead on Bustamante in a head-to-head race and who has the HIGHEST favorable ratings of any of the three major candidates.
You're just looking for reasons to justify your hero worship of Arnold the Harrasser. But, what are you going to do if he gets in and listens to Warren Buffett and the Kennedys?
To: Ol' Sparky
Oh the desperation, its 10/02, election is in 5 days, McClintock is sitting at what 15-18% and dropping.... You can play what if all day long... what are you going to do when you have Bustamante running the show because you were so tone deaf that you voted for a spoiler and elected the fat racist panderer to office?
To: Ol' Sparky
OH, and lets not forget McClintock has lost HOW MANY TIME STATEWIDE BEFORE???? Please, he's nothing but a spoiler and an also ran..
