John Stoos' writings outline his vision of an anti-abortion city council and other such action by government. The candidate says he was 'not aware' of his aide's writings.
John Stoos, a key advisor in the gubernatorial campaign of Republican state Sen. Tom McClintock, has a dream:
"I dream of the day when a strong Christian majority is elected to a city council somewhere in America. This council could then pass a resolution declaring that abortion is now illegal in their city," Stoos wrote this year in a conservative religious journal.
McClintock, who employs Stoos as his deputy campaign manager and until recently paid him $93,720 a year as his top legislative analyst, said in an interview last week that he was unaware of Stoos' writings.
"I completely disagree," McClintock said, with Stoos' vision of the anti-abortion city council and "completely reject" the idea that the nation's modern laws should be biblical.

Because the Constitution Party is for whack jobs.
Tom McClintock is a solid mainstream Reagan Republican.
I am tired of the RINOs setting up a strawman argument that all McClintock supporters are far-right fascists.

It's my state too.I hadn't even bothered checking your profile, where's my motivation these days?
Well I think that is great you are taking an interest in it. This is an extremely important time for us. The decisions we Republicans are making could have long term effects. I caution you that this isn't rock bottom for our relevancy, in fact it could be our reawakening.
Speaking of me and my graphics, what do you make of this one? I'll say circa summer 2004...

It took you that long to come up with... well, nothing?
Moderates think you and I are whack jobs.
I'm still hoping for ONE try at a substantive answer.
I'm tired of scorched-earthers claiming to be paragons of virtue and reason, yet unable (unwilling) to do the most basic linear thinking.

Why would he opus? EV, you can't be series now, can you? I mean, this is hugh; imagine, turning a noun into a verb. Ah, another fine moment at FR.
o-pus v. 1. An act of declaring or writing an opus. [Eternal Vigilance < opus - creative act.]

Why is it "OK, case closed" when McClintock disavows one of his advisors opinions, while the same doesn't apply to Arnold? ( He disavowed Buffett's comment about Prop. 13, but I still see people holding that against Arnold to this day)

I do not believe in what the Constitution Party stands for. Therefore, I do not support it.
Kind of simple.

Like what? I'm serious. If you want to take the time. If not, no harm, no foul; but I thought a lot of their ideas were a pedal-to-the-metal conservative's dream list.

It took McClintock about two seconds to disavow Stoos' remarks. Arnold took days, along with numerous rounds of polling and focus groups, in order to decide how to respond to Buffett's remarks - which had all the air and feel of a trial balloon.
But why are we still having this argument? I feel like we're beatin' a dead horse. Unless Grayout comes up with a huuuge last minute smear, Arnold is in.

It's not currently a welfare state? At least in the south?

While I agree that the latter days may well be with us and we witness that good is bad and bad is good, I think you are mistaken about the danger of who might be fooled.
Haven't you noticed that the less conservative candidates tend not to pretend to be different than what they really are? They really aren't trying to pull something over on voters.
However, the self-righteous pied-pipers feign near perfection and the groupies fall in line in blind obedience; all in the name of conscience and morality
The latter is much more likely to fool the unsuspecting.
It seems all one has to do to become an exalted leader of the unappeasables is to oppose the only person who may actually be elected over a very liberal Democrat. That's it. At that point, his/her credentials are etched in stone forevermore. Oh yes........far more dangerous to the easily fooled.

An LA Times hit-piece is taken for Gospel.
In interest of fairness, I posted the whole Stoos' article here .
You can read it and find out if Stoos is being misquoted.

So, what is "truth"? Pontius Pilate asked, "what is truth?" when The Truth was standing right in front of him. I hope this gives you pause.
John 18 37"You are a king, then!" said Pilate.
Jesus answered, "You are right in saying I am a king. In fact, for this reason I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me."
38"What is truth?" Pilate asked.
The truth of Roman Catholics? Southern Baptists? Russian Orthodox? Judaism? Islam? Buddism?
The Catholic Church has the fullness of truth. The Orthodox are close behind followed by other non-Catholic Christians. Other religions contain elements of truth. But this is something each individual must determine himself through hard work.

Please.....in the name of all that is decent, do not turn this into a Catholic/non-Catholic thread.
I could go off on your claim of the Catholic church having the "fullness of truth", but I will bite my tongue.
Please drop it. Please !!!!!!!!!!

Ditto southflank's "Don't go there" request.
To set the example, I deleted my own further comment. Just don't. It's not like we don't have enough to argue about these days.

It's not currently a welfare state? At least in the south? We are still very successful, we are actually still generating more revenue for the state per year (25% I believe) but we are raising spending (41%) at the same time.
(R)nold's gonna be the one that drops the hammer on us, whipe out the business in "Cow-li-foriya" and turn us into the Welfare State. Gonna be a great time to be Republican.

I am apalled of what has become of Free Republic. An LA Times hit-piece is taken for Gospel.
Pretty humorous coming from a Tom supporter (close friend in this case).
Your "side" has been taking LA Times as Gospel for weeks now because they have been churning out hit-pieces on Arnold.
I do feel badly for Tom regarding this article... it was just as trashy and agenda-driven as all the other LA Times "news" has been and very unfair.
Next time they do a job on Arnold, perhaps you'll remember this one.
