Two recent news items may represent the tip of an enormous explosion about to take place in this country.
Many young Americans are not reacting to the dominant liberal message of dividing the country into racial and ethnic categories in ways that liberals had anticipated.
The first news item is out of Oakley, Calif., where a 15-year-old girl is attempting to start a Caucasian students club at her high school. Reports all suggest that there is nothing racist in her desire. Even the vice president of the local NAACP chapter says, "I think she's doing this for the right reasons."
She simply sees no place for herself in the high school. There are black organizations and Latino and Asian ones (and at other high schools gay and lesbian organizations). But, alas, there is no special place for her. She is white.
Most important in this story is that a fair number of those signing her petition are non-white. They cannot understand why there shouldn't be a white students' organization. It's just not fair.
Liberalism has triumphed.
A new generation of Americans has been so deeply exposed to liberal race-based thinking that few students perceive anything wrong with an organization for whites. Everything they have been taught argues on its behalf.
They have never been taught to have an American identify -- only a Latino, Hispanic, Asian, gay, transgendered, African American/black, Pacific Islander, or European one.
They have been taught that there is no American culture to celebrate, only ethnic and racial cultures.
They have been taught multiculturalism since kindergarten, not Americanism.
They have been taught the religion of tolerance. Yet they see every group honored providing its identity isn't American or its race white.
So when they ask for a white club, they do so logically and innocently. In fact, there is no liberal argument against such a club. If multiculturalism and tolerance are the dominant values, such a club should be created.
Unless liberals hate whites, they should actually welcome such a club as the final confirmation of their ideological transformation of America.
The second news item comes from academia, Southern Methodist University, where a group of conservative students sold cookies at a bake sale where they posted prices based on the liberal trinity, race, gender and ethnicity: White males: $1.00, White females: $.75, Hispanics: $.50, Blacks: $.25.
A black student protested, saying he was offended, and the university shut down the booth in 45 minutes.
It is actually a positive development that a black student was offended. He certainly should be. But, of course, that was the whole point of the conservative students: Changing standards for different groups is offensive.
There is little difference between charging minorities different prices for cookies and the university "charging" different standards for minorities. And that was why the university was so embarrassed. Lest more and more students see in public what the university does privately, that booth had to be shut down.
Needless to say, charges of racism have been widely leveled at the students. That charge is one reason liberalism fares poorly when confronted intellectually. American liberals have dulled their minds by dismissing their adversaries as racists, sexists, and homophobes. It is usually so effective that intellectual arguments are not necessary.
But a new generation of Americans has arisen that knows it is neither racist nor sexist, and therefore not paralyzed by these charges.
Liberals need to respond coherently to the California high school girl, not call her a racist. She probably isn't, which is why minority students have signed the petition to allow such a club. And liberals need to explain why changing standards for admission to the college based on race or ethnicity is noble while charging different prices based on the same criteria is racist.
But there is no coherent response.
The liberal multiculturalist war on behalf of race-based and ethnicity-based dorms, graduations, clubs, congressional caucuses, and professional associations has had its effect.
America is reaping what liberalism has sowed.

When they are successful they will point to the new problems and say it is an example of how wrong capitalism is.
Liberalism has triumphed.
It isn't complicated. Racism was dead and buried in America in 1964, and that was too good for those sorry bastards; they had to re-invent it.
Here's the way around this, change the name of the club to something like the "Iconoclast Club." Make its charter something along the lines of "We are dedicated to the study of history, and doing it in both a critical fashion as well as using accepted historiographic methods of analysis in understanding the contributions of Europeans to both the advance of Western Civilization and the American Experience." How could any pedagoge argue their way around this!
Wasn't it "The Fighting Whities"?
