Favorite Websites List Posted 9/24/2003 By Jason Maoz, Senior Editor EditorThe votes have been received and tabulated, and the winner in the Monitors first-ever readers Favorite Websites poll is ... Jewish World Review, the daily webzine that, hard to believe, is the fruit of one mans labor.
Binyamin L. Jolkovsky started Jewish World Review in 1997 on a shoestring budget and a lot of ambition; six years later hes still got the shoestring budget, though you couldnt tell from looking at his site, with its comprehensive roster of nationally known columnists and feature writers.
Honest Reporting came in a close second, with the Drudge Report, everybodys obligatory stop while web surfing, coming in just a handful of votes behind in third place.
The top 20 vote-getters:
1) Jewish World Review (www.jewishworldreview.com)
2) HonestReporting (www.honestreporting.com)
3) Drudge Report (www.drudgereport.com)
4) IsraelInsider.com (www.israelinsider.com)
5) Front Page Magazine (www.frontpagemag.com)
6) Arutz Sheva (www.israelnationalnews.com)
7) MEMRI (www.memri.org)
8) Aish (www.aish.com)
9) National Review Online (www.nationalreview.com)
10) Best of the Web Today (www.opinionjournal.com)
11) Haaretz (www.haaretzdaily.com)
12) Palestinian Media Watch (www.pmw.org.il)
13) World Net Daily (www.worldnetdaily.com)
14) The Jerusalem Post (www.jpost.com)
15) Imra (www.imra.org.il)
16) Media Research Center (www.mediaresearchcenter.org)
17) Israpundit (www.israpundit.com)
18) New York Times (www.nytimes.com)
19) Andrew Sullivan (www.andrewsullivan.com)
20) Little Green Footballs (www.littlegreenfootballs.com/weblog)
Honorable Mention:
Free Republic (www.freerepublic.com)
Lucianne.com (www.lucianne.com)
Jewsweek (www.jewsweek.com)
Town Hall (www.townhall.com)
Power Line (www.powerline.com)
The Monitor finds it difficult to argue with the readers picks. There are, however, a bunch of websites that in the Monitors view merit constant attention but that didnt crack the top 20 or the honorable mentions in terms of votes received.
They are:
Democracy For The Middle East (www.broadscapeventures.com/weblog/dfme)
Real Clear Politics (www.realclearpolitics.com)
Times Watch (www.timeswatch.org)
Atlantic Blog (www.atlanticblog.com)
Blissful Knowledge (www.blissfulknowledge. com)
The Weigh In (www.jsoda.blogfodder.net)
Right Wing News (www.rightwingnews.com)
Spinsanity (www.spinsanity.org)
Baseball Musings (www.baseballmusings.com)
The Monitor thanks all who participated in the poll.

...I see this as more evidence that the WoT has brought more of my fellow Jews into the conservative fold, that it has woken us up from mistaking the Jewish mitzvah (ritual good deed) of pursuing "social justice" with pursuing "socialism!"

BUMP FOR FR AND ISRAEL
To: adam_az
Hopefully you are right. However, I kind of think that "social justice" and socialism are pretty much the same thing.
Cool that we got a mention.

I disagree, the Torah doesn't mention setting up a coercive powerful central government for forced theft and wealth redistribution. Also, one of the 10 commandements says "Thou shalt not steal," that also applies to governments.

Thanks for those links! I'll have to check out "jewsweek.com." And I'm surprised that the Israeli sites like "Jerusalem Post" were so far down the list.

I didn't mean to imply support for socialism by that, I meant to disparage "social justice."

I bookmarked two of them, and all I can say is that I never thought that I, as a Christian, would end up in a foxhole with a Jew.
But would bet the farm, it is going to end up that way.

Well said! Note that when the prayers speak of taking care of "the widow and orphan in your midts," they always use singular. Nowhere do our prayers teach us to think in terms of groups. That is seemingly small point is a perversion that leads people from Tikkun Olam to socialism.
I hope you are right, and we'll see more of our fellow Jews voting Republican.
L'Shana Tovah. Have a good year.

I am deeply saddened and offended by #18 and believe FR should replace that trashy site mentioned.

Ah, "social justice" .
Social Justice is more of a tactic than a noble aspiration. When a leftists cries for social justice, he implies that there is a higher level of justice to attain. Of course, he gets to legislate and interpret the laws of social justice. As well, he gets to decide what the remedy or punishment for violation of the social justice laws are
that he made up
in his mind. Since the leftist made them up, you and I are automatically excluded from any part of the process. This privilege is reserved for the "annointed". Social Justice is a bludgeon.
