I think I'm beginning to see were this story is going. Tonite on Hardball, Leon Charney (former Carter Adm) said he not only wants an independent council to investigate the outing of Wilson's wife, but the entire reasons for the war in Iraq. They are using this story to revive the 16-words and how Bush supposedly lied to the American people. As Matthews rightly pointed out, once you get an IC looking into one issue (Wilson) their powers greatly expand to other areas (Iraq). This is were the Dems are trying to take us.

Re your post #408, you are right. And there isn't any particular truth the Dems want to learn. They just want to damage the one thing about President Bush that the public consistely gives him high ratings for: his honesty and integrity. The Dems want to smear a good man in the middle of a war just to satisfy their lust for power.

The radio newsbreaks are heating up. My last broadcaster said that the release of Wilson's wifes name by the WH was in retaliation to silence Bush's critics on the Iraq war. He continued, by saying that government officials were tracking down all the agents she had come in contact with over the last 5 years, to make sure none of them are in danger. This is getting way blown out of proportion. I don't believe this "outing" was so much in retaliation, but rather to show the conflicts of interest with Wilson and his wife...and his past record. So much credibility was being given to Wilson (and his report) while nobody was looking at his motives and his wifes connection to getting him this assignment. This will not be over soon, I fear.
