In July I was interviewing a senior administration official on Ambassador Wilson's report when he told the trip was inspired by his wife, a CIA employee working on weapons of mass destruction. Another senior official told me the same thing. As a professional journalist with 46 years experience in Washington I do not reveal confidential sources. When I called the CIA in July to confirm Mrs. Wilson's involvement in the mission for her husband -- he is a former Clitnon administration official -- they asked me not to use her name, but never indicated it would endanger her or anybody else. According to a confidential source at the CIA, Mrs. Wilson was an analyst, not a spy, not a covert operator, and not in charge of an undercover operatives...

I am losing faith in all the television people. They seem content to read one wire clipping over and over again, withou bothering to verify or to get comments from other sources.

From what I've noticed .. many times it take 2-3 days before some in the media start to catch onto the real story

Well, actually, if you wish to be technically correct, he was a CARTER holdover. He first went to work for the State Department in 1976 as a career diplomat.

The biography doesn't say that Carter actually hired him into the state dept., but, I accept that he worked in state during Carter's administration.

In any event, Novak is spinning when he says that Wilson was a Clinton Administration official. It's true that he was a Clinton Administration official just as it's true that he was a George W. Bush Administration official and a George HW Bush official and a Reagan Administration official and a Carter Administration official.

If Wilson made an official trip for the CIA, he would have signed several secrecy agreements not to disclose who he saw or talked to and the outcome before and after his trip.

What if his wife on the urging of their friends, the Clintoons, set this up with a high ranking CIA Rat/Pro Clinton anti Bush individual?

Here is one problem too about Novak calling the CIA and them not revealing to him that Plame was an operative.

It would have been a crime for the person at the CIA to reveal it. They knew Novak knew she worked at the CIA, but if Novak didn't know for example that she worked undercover, they wouldn't confirm that for him, or they would be guilty of a crime for doing so unless Novak has a Top Secret security clearance I am unaware of at this point.

Novak was used, Novak is using... Novak as I point out, is pro arab, anti israel, was against the war before it started.

There are probably more people with CIA Analyst on their resumes and business cards in the DC area than those without that claim.

Novak is not a friend of GW, and he has no source in this White House.
