In July I was interviewing a senior administration official on Ambassador Wilson's report when he told the trip was inspired by his wife, a CIA employee working on weapons of mass destruction. Another senior official told me the same thing. As a professional journalist with 46 years experience in Washington I do not reveal confidential sources. When I called the CIA in July to confirm Mrs. Wilson's involvement in the mission for her husband -- he is a former Clitnon administration official -- they asked me not to use her name, but never indicated it would endanger her or anybody else. According to a confidential source at the CIA, Mrs. Wilson was an analyst, not a spy, not a covert operator, and not in charge of an undercover operatives...
AND NOW, TO INJECT MORE INTEREST, I AM GOING TO PUT PUTIN'S QUOTE HERE FOR EVERYONE TO CONSIDER:
This had very practical results, including in such sensitive areas as combatting terrorism. I have never said this in public, I'm going to do it today. When counterterrorist operation began in Afghanistan, we were approached by people, through several channels, we were approached by people who intended to fight against Americans in Afghanistan. And if by that time President Bush and I had not formed appropriate relationship, as we have, so no one knows what turn would the developments in Afghanistan had taken. You know what was Russia's position, and it helped, to a great extent, to achieve further results that we have achieved in Afghanistan, and was for a very good purpose.
When I first heard this, I thought of governments (and, of course, the French). But on re-reading it, it sounds more like individuals. And the media pretty much ignored it, and the President just let it hang there. I am now thinking this may have been a warning. Putin has LOTS of documents.
You are aware, are you not, that Wilson was doing many interviews after his 2002 trip to Niger. He spoke with Hannity and Colmes, for example, in the fall of 2002. He also penned an anti-war column for "The Nation" (hmm) in February 2003 (NOTE: The president had just delivered his SOTU address and Wilson raises no alarm in his February piece that there was any false or exaggerated information in the speech.). Also, Wilson had other interviews with ABC and Bill Moyers that I know of. Then in July he wrote the editorial that got the ball rolling on this.
The man is brimming with opinions and does not hesitate to voice them. They definitely are anti-Bush Administration.
Would be really nice if you all would find sources that are accurate when trying to slander Karl Rove! If you had bothered to check reliable sources you would have discovered that Karl Rove was involved in Texas only politics in 1992. He was a member of the Bush 41's campaign for Vice President but he was not fired -- in fact that is when he became acquainted with George W Bush who he thought would make a very good Texas Governor! Rove was not fired from Pres Bush 41's campaign staff. In fact until 2000 when he became part of George W. Bush's staff for President, Karl Rove was involved in Texas politics only! This is from Texas Monthly (http://www.texasmonthly.com/mag/issues/2000-09-01/feature6.php?1635354926): Rove envisioned Bush as the party's nominee to succeed Clements as governor in 1990, but when the father won the presidency in 1988, the son's political career was put on hold. Rove had to be content with two significant downballot victories, Kay Bailey Hutchison as state treasurer and Rick Perry as agriculture commissioner. When President Bush lost his reelection bid in 1992, the way was clear for George W. to challenge Ann Richards in 1994. 118 posted on 09/29/2003 9:28 AM PDT by PhiKapMom (Alpha Omnicron Pi Mom too! -- Visit http://www.georgewbush.com!) Making note of the time of your post, I heard that same radio report, complete with Ann Compton. The media will ignore the facts as long as they can. Disgusting.
There was an actual link provided to that allegation, PKM refuted it saying Rove wasn't working on that campaign. (Sorry if I'm repeating what you know.) Still, I find it interesting that Novak is cast as the central character in both matters. Maybe the first allegation seemed like a credible way to go when reviewed from a Dem campaign center.
Georgie???
Someone tell Wilson to stay away from Fort Marcy Park. ;)
So, WHO was Putin contacted by? WHY won't he say who it was? WHY did President Bush just let it hang in the air without a comment?
Choices for nations or individuals being warned that Putin has told Bush and their secret is no longer safe:
France
Syria
China
Iraq(although since Saddam is gone I think he would have named them)
Germany
And now, getting to individuals who might have called Putin telling them they were going to help Afghanistan against the Americans:
Jesse Jackson
Bill Clinton
Madeline Albright
Al Gore
Huge headlines from the major media outlets and the cries of Starr's GOP ties by the democrats. Then a few weeks or months later an investigation would clear Starr and his team but it received page 7 reporting.
Same thing happening here.
And who was going around the world at the time talking to a bunch of countries
Clinton and Carter .. that's who
If want I am thinking is true .. this could be REALLY big
