I think the question is when Wilson wrote his piece in the NYT, was he an employee of the government? If so he should be covered by some national security oath to not voice his opinions, or devulge information....

You are aware, are you not, that Wilson was doing many interviews after his 2002 trip to Niger. He spoke with Hannity and Colmes, for example, in the fall of 2002. He also penned an anti-war column for "The Nation" (hmm) in February 2003 (NOTE: The president had just delivered his SOTU address and Wilson raises no alarm in his February piece that there was any false or exaggerated information in the speech.). Also, Wilson had other interviews with ABC and Bill Moyers that I know of. Then in July he wrote the editorial that got the ball rolling on this.

The man is brimming with opinions and does not hesitate to voice them. They definitely are anti-Bush Administration.
