I disagree... as someone who researched Arnold fully in August PRIOR to deciding which candidate to support, I can state that Arnold's positions are totally consistent with his views and actions over the last several years.

I should have also given you this link to his agenda at this website. This has been up for quite a while, also, and outlines much of what he states in his speeches and interviews.

You could be right, I am busy babysitting my 9 month old granddaughter.

I just really wanted to know if freepers who were supporting Arnold were doing it because they think he is the only one that can win?

**First heard about it this morning**

Weeks ago his tripe was thrown out to discredit Schwarzenegger. And you just found out about it? Wow.

PhiKapMom--

Rinos do exist, and they are often deserving of criticism. Snowe, Specter, and their ilk are often harmful to the interests of the party as a whole and certainly to the principles that animate the vast majority of Republicans. I think that a true RINO is one that has little or no loyalty to the party, and bends over backwards to go against the party, causing people to think that they label themselves as Republican only for political expediency. Bloomberg comes to mind.

I don't consider Arnold to be a RINO under that definition. He has been a friend to republicans for 30 years, and has been there for the party. I consider him to be a liberal Republican, as are Rudy Giuliani and Norm Coleman. Sometimes the choice is between a liberal Republican and a socialist, and I will always go with the liberal Republican. With Rudy we were rewarded with an efficient and good mayor who did not hurt conservatives because a mayor has little impact on issues like abortion. With Arnold, let's hope we get similar governance.

When the choice is between a true RINO and a Democrat, then I would analyze the race as though party labels did not exist, and figure out which person I wanted to win. If there is no difference between the candidates, then I would vote for the Democrat over a RINO, because if we are going to have Democrat policies, I would prefer they get blamed on a Democrat.

True Rinos that I have noticed were Weicker of Connecticut and Jeffords, before both of them changed parties, Bloomberg, Chafee, Gerald Ford, Specter, and a few in the House. Snowe worries me. In the Supreme Court, we have lost many judges, latest examples being O'Connor and Kennedy. There are a couple governors who act like RINOs, Ryan of Illinois being the latest example. Don't exonerate all RINOs just because we both support Arnold in this particular race. I'm sure he will make us both mad a few times in the next 3 years, but he is still preferable to Davis.

" We should't compromise our principals...we SHOULD WIN WITH OUR PRINCIPALS."

I heard Rush say that...again. I think he meant principles rather than principals, but everyone has principles, even the Liberals and everyone believes in their principles. Principles don't matter in politics if you lose. If you don't like the Liberal's principles, then you must not do anything that can help them win.

So, in other words, you don't live there but are starting a vanity thread on the subject. Don't you think that, at this point in the election, that we should let the California freepers work this out among themselves?

My point is that politicians are human, and they say things that perhaps they wish they had said differently. In other words, don't put too much stock on an isolated comment. Keep in mind what the politician says overall.

BTW, great pic of Reagan. I love it.

" We should't compromise our principals...we SHOULD WIN WITH OUR PRINCIPALS."

I remember Rush going on and on for weeks before the 1992 election begging people not to vote for Perot and throw their vote away. On the surface, Perot was an attractive candidate for people who were pissed at Bush for breaking his promise. He was populist, and threatened the existing governmental order in DC, said he would not raise taxes, and wanted a strong defense. But voting for him would just elect Bill Clinton, and that's what happened.

Too bad Rush doesn't remember that far back.

Thanks - I was going to use "Two for the price of one" - but for some strange reason Congressman Billybobb didn't go for that one in the pitch meeting...

This is an issue talked about all over the country.

And I can ask the question if I want? Whats it to you?

I wanted to see how many freepers were voting for Arnold just for winning sake.

Perhaps "two for the price of one" smacks too much of the Clintons, "We are the President!" ;-)
