WASHINGTON (CNN) -- CIA Director George Tenet said Thursday a flood of news leaks about sensitive matters are jeopardizing national security -- and 95 percent of the leaks are coming from the executive branch of government.

"The nature of the leaking that's going on in this town is unprecedented. It is compromising sources and methods. It is jeopardizing American security and there are people in our government who think they have some free pass to do this for their own pleasure," said Tenet, who was testifying before the House Intelligence Committee at its first public hearing about the bombing of the Chinese Embassy.

Tenet is a miserable failure. But then so was the CIA of the nineteen nineties. Just check the sappy output of former agents like Ray McGovern, Bill Christison, Reuel Marc Gerecht, Milt Bearden, John Deutch, and Dr. David Morehouse. Then there are formers like Robert Baer (who wrote an excellent book on the Agency's failings) and then fell in love with his own face on TV and now produces little more than simplistic mouthings.

With this foolishly handled Wilson contretemps can anyone now doubt that the CIA needs a change of leadership?

The first time I read Wilson,I thought something was a bit off.How he thought a few discussions over tea would out whether the attempt to buy the yellow cake had occurred is naive. Sending him to Niger was strange.Perhaps his wife thought it would keep him busy, off the streets and out of the bars!

I watched Wilson's C-Span interview this morning. Talk about a love fest with the C-Span host. JMO, C-Span should have their own ratings on the top of the screen.

PP for politcal porn, that C-Span showed this morning with it's interview with Wilson this morning.

You are right...this "leak" is pure fiction...from another thread:

It appears that Corn, a Lefty who writes for the very left-wing magazine The Nation, sliced and diced a paragraph from a Robert Novak column in order to manufacture the scandal. His article was the first to make the allegations that the Bush administration illegally outed Plame as a CIA undercover operative, in order to discredit her diplomat husband.

The core of the mini-scandal is the charge that "two senior administration officials" told Novak, a famous conservative political columnist and commentator, Valerie Plame's identity as an undercover CIA agent to him. But that is not what Novak wrote. You see, I'm not just a reader of the news, I'm a journalist with a very inquisitive mind - and an Internet connection. And I've got Google. So I did what those Lefty bloggers apparently didn't do before swallowing Corn's version hook, line and sinker. I Googled and found Novak's article. Here is what it says, verbatim, and in its entirety, about Valerie Plame:

Wilson never worked for the CIA, but his wife, Valerie Plame, is an agency operative on weapons of mass destruction. Two senior administration officials told me his wife suggested sending Wilson to Niger to investigate the Italian report. The CIA says its counter-proliferation officials selected Wilson and asked his wife to contact him. "I will not answer any question about my wife," Wilson told me.
Novak did NOT say "senior administration officials" revealed her identity. Novak simply states her identity.

Out of appx. 10 calls during the segment only one was questioned Wilson. She was from Alabama, IIRC.

The last call was an old coot who praised Wilson and Wilson was soaking in the "praise" and then the old coot went on a Buchanan like tirade about the "Jewish" owned media and you could see the panic on Wilson's and the C-Span hosts face and they cut him off immediately.

It was pretty fuuny.

I'll have to ask her what she said .she's pretty fiery discussing things like Wilson to me but may be muted when on national TV!

Limbaugh's pretty well put paid to the Plame affair on his radio show today. Methinks the Dems are gonna need a new canard.

I am just going from memory this morning. But the woman from IIRC, Alabama(and the only one to objectively question Wilson), questioned Wilson also asked about his view about Kosovo, which Wilson ignored completely in his answer to the caller, and she also mentioned Hillary being behind this whole brouhaha and Wilson ignored that accusation also.

Wilson was a weasle and the C-span host didn't call him on it.

I finally got a report from my daughter. She got on about 15min.before the Wilson segment. She was shocked and said she had to gather her thoughts because she got in!

Someone had called in talking about Clinton being impeached for sex so she corrected andd said..for lying under oath. Also pointed out that Republicans want anyone who breaks the law to be punished(as opposed to Dems)and one more point I don't recall.
