A quick summary for those interested...

Beckett Breaux is a 32 yr. old former DEA agent, supported by the former sheriff (who is under investigation by the feds for mistreatment of prisoners, fraud, conspircy, etc. and allowed Cuban federal detainees to take over his jail in Dec. 1999) and the 'good ol' boy' network of the parish. If this person wins the election, and he's using every dirty trick in the book to ensure this, the status quo would be maintained and our parish will continue to suffer.

(BTW, Breaux is my 4th cousin, and most of that branch of my family tree supports him).

Ronnie Theriot is a former LA State Trooper w/ 25 years of experience fighting all crime, not just the ill-fought Drug War. As is obvious in reading the article, the man has class and integrity. He refuses to engage in political mud slinging, even though he's covered in it from Beckett Breaux's cronies. My uncle, an old retired LA state trooper whom I greatly respect, worked with Theriot for many years, and my brother, a current depuity whom has also earned my respect has supported his campaign from the begining. Not to mention all of my other cousins within the department, who are afraid to show their open support for Theriot for fear of reprisials if Breaux wins.

Which sadly means, he probably doesn't stand a chance. However, you have my best hopes for a regime change.

Such is Louisiana politics. The good ole boy network helped screw a family friend out of settlement money. In exchange for the lawyer (who was supposed to be working for the interest of my friend) getting support from the good ole boys to get elected to a parish level job all he had to do was screw over the case and give him bad legal advice.
