[history]
September 29, 2003 -- FORGET anger on the Arab street. The emotion pervading OPEC, the offshore haven for the world's richest Mideast despots, is fear.
At first glance, the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries seems in fine form. The Saudi-dominated price-fixing cartel met in Vienna Wednesday to cut oil production quotas by 3.5 percent. The move proved the cartel can still shock: The surprise pushed oil-future prices up 5 percent and sent stock markets tumbling.

If it is bad for OPEC it has to be good.

Actually, OPEC has behaved responsibly. They have been responsive to democrats who gave them power over the USA and they have been responsible to Reagan and Bush and have dealt reasonably when power was displayed.
Do not blame the Arabs who have behaved on the whole more responsably than the Clinton administration.

THE IRAQI DAGGER AT OPEC'S HEART Push the dagger in and kill the vampire once and for all.
Several years from now, America is going to get a huge payback of cheaper oil prices from doing the right thing in Iraq.

Thanks, seamole! I wasn't sure what to make of last week's OPEC meeting. The Iraqi Council member is very brave. Being backed up by the world's superpower after years of being deprived of your nation's resources while a monster feeds himself could be a motivating factor. (^:
..if Iraq's Governing Council puts its oil ministry to work for the common good, OPEC is in trouble. And Iraq appears pointed in that direction.
The ministry is bubbling over with ideas for investment.
Iraq-ization, liberation, ping!

That scent we are smelling is coming from the soiled silken robes of the Opecker Princes.
They know that their days of controlling the energy of the world and the economies of the world are ending.
Putie, besides meeting with GW (not at the ranch) was over here to officially open about 1100 former Getty Gas stations as part of the new Russian gasoline/energy venture.
We were on vacation from the 19 of September to the 27th. It was great to see falling gasoline prices in N. California and SW Oregon.

Strategery at its finest... The obvious move for the SA princes is to continue to support the destruction of the Iraq oil infrastructure until that are all caught and killed. I imagine there are still many holes in the oil patch where infiltrators can get in. Lets hope the UAVs are on patrol.

And If Iraq were to pump 6 million barrels, it would devour nearly one-fourth of OPEC's total quota. Russia and Iraq will thrust the dagger in deeply. OPEC is toast within a few years.

Now as the majestic OPEC descends gracefully here at Lakehurst--
Oh no! It's burst into flames! Sheiks are jumping, their robes afire!
O the humanity!
Of course, they are not humane, so, nothing lost. On to the tailgate party for the champagne!

Welcome back, Grampa Dave! Good idea, getting away from the news - appreciating God's green earth, and cheaper gas. *g*
