Algerian army kills 150 Islamic rebels - report

ALGIERS, Sept 27 (Reuters) - Algeria's armed forces have killed 150 Islamic rebels in their most successful attack on guerrilla hideouts since the North African country plunged into violence a decade ago, a newspaper said on Saturday.

A crackdown on the Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat (GSPC) by the armed forces and state-armed militias started two weeks ago and is still going on in the province of Setif, 300 kms (190 miles) east of Algiers, the influential El Watan newspaper said, citing military sources.

It said several women and children including babies, believed to be members of the rebel families living in the hideouts, were found during the operation.

The newspaper said 105 rebel bodies were found burnt to ashes in caves after an intense artillery bombardment.

Officials were not available to comment on the report.

The armed forces have in recent months stepped up a campaign to eliminate what remains of the GSPC and the Armed Islamic Group, which is known for slitting the throats of its victims.

Earlier this week El Watan reported that the government offensive had killed 15 members of GSPC. Last October, military officials said the group had 400 fighters. Last month, Algeria's interior minister said only a few pockets of rebels were left.

Algeria's decade of violence began in 1992 when authorities cancelled elections that a Muslim fundamentalist party was poised to win and militants took up arms to create a purist Islamic state. Well over 100,000 people are estimated to have died.

Muslims in Africa have done the same thing to their own people over and over, they don't even have the supposed excuse of 'invader occupation' of 'their' land like the Palis claim.

The Russians, in a certain area, had trouble with a group of Muslims killing women and children.
So they abducted a group of muslims, killed them, and desecrated their bodies.
The muslims of that area left them alone for awhile.

Many many years ago in the general area of Malaysia, a group of muslims started killing women and children terror style.
The local military commander had a couple muslims (50) collared.
He tied them all to stakes and had a firing squad line up.
Before shooting the muslims, some pigs were brought out and butchered in front of them.
The soldiers dipped their bullets in the pig's blood.
The order to fire was given, 49 muslims were dead.
THEN their bodies were buried with the fully butchered pigs, the last muslim was released to tell the tale to his stone worshipping buddies.

And the area had peace from muslim aggression for almost 60 years.
