Thune can count on my financial support if he runs, and I will contribute substantially. Gotta offset the tried-and-true Dimo "dead vote". I can't stand Dachle. If he dropped dead in front of me I would urinate on him before I moved on.

"Janklow's situation will probably resolve without felony conviction and jail time and he will run again for his House seat."

Really? you think Janklow will avoid going to jail?

What makes you say that???

I've heard, that the White House encouraged Thune not to challenge the election so that he could go up against Daschle in 04...Remember, the GOP already won the Senate back, and many thought we would pick up Landrieous seat in the runoff.

Sounds like the typical milquetoast, spineless, Country Club Republican approach.

I think 56 or more is a possibility next year.

Graham is very likely to retire in Florida, and Breaux is (Apparently) dying to get out of the Senate and make some money in the private sector.

If Thune runs, we should be able to get a minimum of 5+ seats next year.

Vote fraud and ballot manipulation through fraudulent "recounts" is all that keeps the Dims at their current power level. They should be at 30-40% of each house by now. Nobody wants what they are selling -- except for the "true believers" (useful idiots) and "moderates" (useless idiots).

Daschle has just purchased a million dollar home in the D.C. area. I suspect that he will be glad to stay in D.C. and never go back to his home state.

I'm sure that most of the good folks in S. Dakota (a fundamentally conservative state) would be pleased to have him stay away too.

As far as politicians go, only crooks go to jail, Rostenkowski, Trafficant, etc. Despite how hard the Argus Leader is trying to convict him, it is unlikely he will do time.

We need 60 votes...

Actually, to confirm judicial nominies, we need 51 votes plus a Senate Majority Leader with a functional spine and gonads.

You think he shouldn't go to jail?

I thought the SD laws were clear about him having to go to jail for 1) Speeding 2) Accidentally killing someone.

What does the constitution demand that 60 votes are needed to end a filibuster?

I know treaties require 67 votes...

There were 13000 R's who voted for Johnson. Exit polls showed over half of them voted because they thought it would be better to have two dim Senators in the majority! there were 3000 libertarians who did not get the message(one way or the other) that their candidate had dropped out and had thrown his support behind Thune. I think we can count on at least 7000 votes more in 2004!!

I would argue that only the most blatantly corrupt politicians get punnished, and only then those who have somehow fallen out of power with the elites. Thus, Rostenkowski, Trafficant, indeed very few are punnished. Yet Torricelli, Clinton, Clinton, etc., etc., get a pass. We'll have to see about CA Governor Dufus, but I expect that he will get a pass too.

Come now, in court, ANYTHING can happen, and usually does. Janklow is a speeder, who caused a fatal accident. He is not the willful killer that drunk drivers are. How 'bout the CNN guy that did a hit and run on a cyclist? He didn't even miss a show.

I remember the story about all those republicans voting dem and wondered at the time if it was a ready made excuse to cover the fraud.

>>>>>>Absolutely the election was stolen. Stolen by the Indian reservations<<<<<<<<<<<<

I agree and disagree

I believe that Davison county was part and parcel involved in the theft of the election. they(shannon and davison) didn't come in with their count till they knew how many votes they needed to beat

The fraud was that story about Republicans voting for Johnson because Daschle was the Majority Leader. That did not happen!

Republicans voted to gain a majority in the Senate.

Agree, I remember all the stories and excuses in the middle of the night, why those counties had not reported. One story was that they were in the trunk of a poll workers car on the way to the county seat. IIRC!!
