[history]
Pro-life, pro-family, conservative Republicans are becoming a rare commodity in the Valley these days. State Sen. Chuck Poochigian endorsed Mike Villines for Assembly District 29. Mr. Villines has pro-choice ex-governor (and campaign consultant to Arnold Schwarzenegger) Pete Wilson stumping and raising money for him. Meanwhile, Bill Jones and Mike Der Manouel Jr. are backing pro-choice Mr. Schwarzenegger for governor and telling pro-life Republican Tom McClintock to go jump in a lake.

Ah, yet another true beleiver that will be sitting under the big tent when McC hits the revival circuit up and down the 99. Tom's gotta make a livin' somehow after the 7th; might as well be giving them the old-time religion.
Steibeck described a circuit preacher in Grapes of Wrath who reminds me of McC. Kerouc also spent some time as well along the 99 in '47. Don't know what it is about the old farming towns that make for bad politics and good literature.

Saundra, I deeply admire you. Even more
Tom McClintock.
But I am a second generation Californian, my children third gen, I know the invaded state well. It is no longer my tax home, although I spend much of my time there. So no voting. But Prop 54 is the way I was raised, we all believed this principle, we were all Americans, in our communities in the Monterey Bay area.
Many of us with a deep belief in fiscal conservatism and its resultant social conservatism are in awe of Tom McClintock. The debate was our first view of him.
Whatever Tom decides to do, his team should know that Tom McClintock must be supported for higher office, where the population is not weighted down by the illegals and the large liberal factor attracted to California.
I support him for President, many say Senator.
While Tom McClintock must abide by principle, it was easy to survey also his intelligence and fairness.
I believe he will make the correct decision wrt the race for Gov.

Your letter sums it up well, Saundra and hits all the right points.
The irrational exuberance over Arnie's campaign, may come back to bite California right in the butt. Politics sometimes makes for strange bedfellows, but infatuation and politics don't mix well. Period.

Congratulations on the publishing of the letter, however, this is CALIFORNIA, and McClitnock cannot win (so say the polls). If McClintock helps get another democrat in office, he is not better than the Libertarians, and their self-professed "principle"....principle that contiues to elect democrats.

There are some "useful idiots" for Gay Davis all right but I ain't one of 'em.
Davis has been sitting back laughing his head off at the Republicans fighting and bickering.
You wait. When Davis starts spending those millions on attacking Schwarzenegger, the big star will fade away. Then - if the Republicans haven't been successful in completely destroying McClintock's chances, there he'll be like a shining star. Our hero.
Go, McClintock!! www.helptom.com

Then we have Mr. Schwarzenegger calling those of us who support Proposition 54 (the racial privacy initiative) "right-wing crazies."I've been searching for any instance where Arnold has bashed a consituent group of the lib-dem voting machine in a similar manner. I can't find anything. Oh, he said he'd like to stuff Arianna Huffington's head in a toliet, but Arianna is a lone froot loop that has fallen out of the bowl and onto the floor.
Bottom line: he saves his gratuitous insults for the constituents he despises most and with whom he has the least in common: the conservative base.
And we are more than pleased to return the favor.

Presidential Bump!
Great letter - we should all be writing same to our local papers.
To: Saundra Duffy
How dare you post this! You are trying to divide the party with your closeminded pro-abolitionists talk. When will you people wake up and get with the times? Your guy will go down in history as the guy that destroyed the GOP, and be looking for a job like that "Snerfling" said. People like you better listen to brave words of wisdom like his, look what your principles did to the Whig party just a few years ago!
You're not a team player, uppety and out of touch. Slavery will never be illegal in the Union so stop being so divisive. Oops.... wrong debate I get confused. My bad.

You really need some HTML help to resize those huge pictures you put on every thread. May I suggest the HTML sandbox? Those things you put on are larger than most people's screens. You would do well to make it at least 1/2 the size or less if you want people to see what you have posted.
