Bruce Herschensohn does ad for Tom McClintock
California Republican Assembly ^ | Sept. 27, 03 | California Republican Assembly

Posted on 09/27/2003 12:40:33 PM PDT by churchillbuff

I just heard a GREAT radio ad supporting Tom McClintock for Governor. It was Bruce Herschensohn - - California's MR. CONSERVATIVE -- speaking from the heart. An announcement said it was co-sponsored by California Republican Assemply, so I went to their web site - - and here's the official announcement of the Herschensohn ad:

CRA LAUNCHES RADIO CAMPAIGN TO SUPPORT TOM MCCLINTOCK FOR GOVERNOR The California Republican Assembly announced today that it was beginning a radio campaign urging support for Tom McClintock in the recall election October 7th. Bruce Herschensohn speaks candidly with listeners in the 60 second spot confronting the argument that although McClintock is the best candidate, he can’t win.

“If everyone who has said that would vote for him he’d win by a landslide,” Herschensohn says. The spot concludes with an appeal from Herschensohn: “If you think he’s the most qualified candidate, support him. At this point, it doesn’t depend on him, it depends on you.”

The clock is already running on the referendum. We have a 90-day window to get it qualified. If we can't get it qualified within the 90-day deadline from when it was signed, it's too late.
Why won't Arnold support the effort if he's really so strongly against SB60?

Clock running, tick-tick-tick... Licenses issued January 1st, tick-tick-tick...

Fun and games at March 2004 elections! And where is Arnold??

Here's my take on it:

If he supported the referendum, he would tick off the liberals.

If he opposed it, he would tick off the conservatives.

He's able to placate everybody, at least a little bit, by doing neither. Real gutsy move on his part.

And of course the licenses will get ISSUED on January 1st without this action. Then it's TOO LATE.

Oh, but wait. He can "win!"

Do YOU have any idea why Arnold refuses to support the REFERENDUM to kill the horrible SB60, which allows drivers' licenses to be issued to illegal aliens on January 1, 2004?

Because Karl Rove doesn't want President Bush on the wrong side of an overwhelmingly popular ballot referendum against Illegal Aliens in the March 2004 primary.

The clock runs out for qualifying the referendum sometime in the early part of December. I don't recall the exact date that the bill was signed but whatever date it was sets the cutoff date.

It's my understanding that the petitions are being mailed out this weekend. I've signed up to gather at least 50 signatures. (I hope to get a lot more.)

"The columnist also recalled that after the impeachment of President Bill Clinton, Schwarzenegger "seemed to express disgust with the process, saying in a George magazine interview in 1999, 'That was another thing I will never forgive the Republican Party for.' Another thing? What else is there for which you will not forgive your party, Arnold?" he asked."

Silence. I get it, don't ask, don't tell.

I'm not sure on this point but wasn't there also a direct quote in that article of him saying that he was "ashamed to be a Republican" over the impeachment?

I voted for herschenson, DESPITE his "indiscretion" whereas your prototypical "true conservative christians" baled on him en masse.

Big H, pretty much screwed us out of a win that year.
Did YOU vote for him, or are you another bible thumping hyprocrite from out of state? Perhaps you are one of those "true conservative Christians," in California, who stayed home and did NOT vote for the guy because his "indiscretion" was too "immoral" for your "holiness" quotient?

You called me "B!st!rd"? I know who my parents are.
How inappropriate it is for a "ChrisynSoldier" to use profanity on folks they disagree with, at the drop of a hat, on a supposed "G" rated website.

Just like most of the McClintonites...

I think you are onto something there.
I at first, thought it might be party loyalty... guess I should have known better. This also explains why he has no "winning" record of legislative victories to tout in his campaign.

He has not shown the courage and consistency under pressure that is needed to get things done (unless you count attacking fellow conservatives). He seems to be more a "conservative yada, yada, yada" machine, than a "conservative actions" person...

RINOs have tried to blend the two together. That's why they threatened to go against the recall if it appeared Tom might win (remember Issa's recent threat...

Issa is now a rino in your book? Ridiculous.
Without him there would BE no recall.

Calling Issa a "RINO" is no more over the top than saying a McClintock supporter is really a closet support of BustaBoogeyman.
